Lindale, Temporary Road Closures Due To Utility Works

What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (BACK O’ THE FELL ROAD, C5046, BACK ROAD AND THE U5233, LINDLAE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of:

Phase 1: Back O’ The Fell Road, Lindale, from its junction with Smithy Hill, extending in a south westerly direction for a distance of approx. 130 metres.

Alternative Route: via Smithy Hill and the C5046.

Phase 2: i. C5046, Lindale, from its junction with Smithy Hill extending in a south easterly direction to its junction with Back O’ The Fell Road.

Alternative Route: Via Back O’ The Fell Road and Smithy Hill.

(ii) Back Road, Lindale, from its junction with the C5046, extending in a north westerly direction to its junction with School Hill.

(iii) U5233, Lindale, from its junction with Back Road, extending in a predominantly south westerly direction to its junction with Windermere Road (B5271).

Alternative Route: via Windermere Road (B5271), A590 and the B5277.

The Order will come into operation on 18th August 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 5 days and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
