Westmorland & Furness, Temporary Road Closures Due To Utility Works

What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, LINDAL AND SEDBERGH) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the;

(i) US233 Bell Hill, Lindal from its junction with the B5277, extending in a southwest then northwest direction to its junction with School Hill. Alternative Route: via the B5277, The Gill and the unrestricted section of Bell Hill. Duration: From 2nd August 2025 for approx. 1 day (Ref: TTRO\WI\14956)

(ii) B5271 Windermere Road, Lindal from its junction with Bell Hill Park, extending in a north easterly direction for a distance of approx. 170m; and

(iii) US233 Bell Hill and School Hill, Lindal from its junction with the B5271 Windermere Park, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 370m. Alternative Route: via the B5277 and the unrestricted section of the B5271. Duration: From 11th August 2025 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTRO\WI\15001)

(iv) Winfield Road, Sedbergh from its junction with Joss Lane, extending in a north westerly direction for a distance of approx. 20m; and

(v) Joss Lane, Sedbergh from its junction with Winfield Road, extending in a north easterly direction for a distance of approx. 20m. There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles. Duration: From 11th August 2025 for approx. 1 night during the hours of 2100 and 0600 (Ref: TTRO\WI\1502)

(vi) Fairholme, Sedbergh from its junction with Joss Lane, extending in a north westerly direction for a distance of approx. 20m; and

(vii) Joss Lane, Sedbergh from its junction with Fairholme, extending in a north easterly direction for a distance of approx. 20m. There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles. Duration: From 11th August 2025 for approx. 1 night during the hours of 2100 and 0600 (Ref: TTRO\WI\1503)

(viii) Bainbridge Road, Sedbergh from its junction with Joss Lane, extending in a westerly direction for a distance of approx. 20m; and

(ix) Lowlangstaffe, Sedbergh from its junction with Joss Lane, extending in an easterly direction for a distance of approx. 20m; and

(x) Joss Lane, Sedbergh adjacent to a property known as Holme Crest, extending in a southerly direction for a distance of approx. 40m. There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles. Duration: From 11th August 2025 for approx. 1 night during the hours of 2100 and 0600 (Ref: TTRO\WI\1504)

The Order will come into operation on 2nd August 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
