Durham, Temporary Footpath & Footbridge Closure Due To safety Concerns
What is happening?
THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF DURHAM
(FOOTPATH NO.82 DURHAM CITY AND OLD DURHAM FOOTBRIDGE) (TEMPORARY FOOTPATH AND FOOTBRIDGE CLOSURE) ORDER 2013
The above-named Order made by the Council on 17/1/13, under section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and which became operational on 29/1/13 and subsequently extended to 31/7/25 has been continued in force, as approved by the Secretary of State for Transport, until 31/7/27 or until the bridge is safe to use or an alternative solution is confirmed, whichever is the sooner and whichever applies. The effect of the Order is to temporarily close to all pedestrian traffic a 100m length of Footpath No 82 Durham City that extends south westwards from the former railway embankment bridge wall and westwards over the Old Durham Footbridge.
An alternative route will be available to pedestrian traffic from the northern side of the closure north westerly along Footpath No. 82 to the riverside Footpath No.80 then southerly to the southern side of the closure and vice versa.
