Durham, Temporary Road Closure Due To Carriageway Resurfacing Works

(Unclassified road 34.4 Binchester Crag to Long Lane, Newfield) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025

The Council on 25/7/2025 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following length of road. A 770 metre length of Unclassified road 34.4. between Binchester Crag and Long Lane, near Newfield to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken. An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the western side of the closure from Binchester Crag, north to Newfield then east on Unc road 34.4 Primrose Hill to Long Lane and south to the eastern side of the closure, and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on Monday 4/8/2025 and are anticipated to be completed in 14 days (daily between 7am–7pm). On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
