Dorset - Temporary Road Closures due to Landslip and Utility Works

What is happening?

Temporary Closure of Smishops Lane, Loders

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along SMISHOPS LANE, LODERS between its junction with Waddon Way and its junction with Yellow Lane, a distance of approximately 625 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 31 July 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months.

This Order is for health and safety reasons due to a landslip.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed section.

Temporary Closure of Fleet Street, Beaminster

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along FLEET STREET, BEAMINSTER between its junction with Pine Mews and number 84, a distance of approximately 390 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation between 0830 and 1730 on 06 August 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 20 August 2025.

This Order will enable National Grid, safe access to carry out replacement works. On this occasion there will be no specified alternative route for diverted traffic.
