Southsea Common Overflow Car Park - Amendment To Operating Days
What is happening?
AMENDMENT TO SOUTHSEA COMMON OVERFLOW CAR PARK
1. Notice is hereby given that the Portsmouth City Council has made the following Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984: The Portsmouth City Council (Southsea Common Overflow) (Off-street Parking Places) (Amendment No 1) Order 2025 on the 1 August 2025. The effect of the Order will be to extend the number of days per year that the car park can operate from the current 17 days to 28 days. The Order will come into effect on the 5 August 2025.
2. It is intended that the extension of the number of days the car park can operate will last until 31 December 2027, and thereafter revert to a maximum of 17 days per calendar year. The reason is to maximise parking capacity in Southsea at particularly busy times, due to a reduced parking capacity along the seafront whilst the coastal protection works are taking place between 2025 and 2027.

4. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act, or that a requirement of any such enabling Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with, may, within 6 weeks from the date of the Order, make application for this purpose to the High Court.
