Victoria Road, Overnight Taxi Rank Order Made Permanent

What is happening?

THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF DURHAM (VICTORIA ROAD, CONSETT) (OVERNIGHT TAXI RANK) ORDER 2025

On 28/7/2025 the County Council made an Order under Sections 9 and 10, of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("RTRA"), as amended, the effect of which comes into operation on 7/8/2025 and will make permanent the experimental order that has been in operation since 23/1/2025. The Order will make permanent the following restrictions:

Victoria Road:- Overnight taxi ranks Monday - Sunday between the hours of 6pm-8am. The daytime restriction of Mon-Sat 8am-6pm, 1 hour no return within three hours will continue to operate as normal.

A copy of the Order may be inspected at Consett Library during normal opening hours and via the Councils website. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the "RTRA", as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any regulation made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks from 28/7/2025 apply to make an application for that purpose to the High Court.
