Temporary Variable Speed Limit Order 2025 

Notice is hereby given that Cornwall Council has made the above order dated 28th July 2025 in exercise of its powers under section 14(1) of the RTRA 1984 to impose a temporary variable speed limit on the sections of highway as defined in schedules one, two and three below. 

The Order shall come into operation on 16th August 2025 and shall remain in force for eighteen months with the expectation that works are anticipated to be complete by the 1st December 2025. The restriction will be in force 24 hours a day, weekends included. 

The Council is satisfied that the order is needed because works are being executed on or near the road to carry out the dualling of A30 between Chiverton Cross and Carland Cross including on and offline dualling of existing single carriageway with new grade separated junctions and under bridge construction. 

The restrictions imposed by this order shall remain in force on such days and during such times as the appropriate traffic signs are displayed. In this order "traffic sign" means a sign of any size, colour and type described or authorised under or having effect as though prescribed or authorised under section 64 of The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. 

No person shall drive a vehicle on a section of a road which is subject to a variable speed limit at a speed exceeding that indicated by a speed limit sign. 

Schedule 1 - Roads subject to a 30 miles per hour speed restriction

Schedule 2 - Roads subject to a 40 miles per hour speed restriction

Schedule 3 - Roads subject to a 50 miles per hour speed restriction
