Suffolk - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures and Speed Restrictions
What is happening?
SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U8108 LINKWOOD ROAD, LITTLE WHElNETHAM
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U8108 Linkwood Road, Little Whelnetham from the junction with Bury Road for 50 metres northbound to facilitate civils works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Poplar Meadow, North Hill, Sicklesmere Road, Bury Road, Little Whelnetham Road, The Street, Bury Road and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 31/07/2025 – 06/08/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY 40MPH AND 30MPH SPEED RESTRICTION ON PART OF
THE A140 NORWICH ROAD, STONHAM PARVA AND MENDLESHAM
Suffolk County Council has made an order for temporary speed restrictions on the following roads
40mph Speed Restriction
• A140 Norwich Road, Stonham Parva from 200 metres north of Debenham Road to Norwich Road, Mendlesham
• A140 Norwich Road, Mendlesham from Norwich Road, Stonham Parva to 45 metres south of Brockford House
• A140 Norwich Road, Mendlesham from 20 metres south of Town Lane to 120 metres north of the road from the A140 to White Oak Farm
30mph Speed Restriction
• A140 Norwich Road, Mendlesham from 45 metres south of Brockford House to 120 metres north of the road from the A140 to White Oak Farm
This is to facilitate construction of a new development. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
It is intended that the restrictions will operate from 31/07/2025 – 14/11/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE B1118 WILBY ROAD, STRADBROKE
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the B1118 Wilby Road, Stradbroke from the junction with Carrs Close to White Close to facilitate carriageway patching. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
The diversion route will be the B1118, the B1186, the B1118 and vice versa.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 31/07/2025 to 01/08/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C698 AND C697 VARIOUS ROADS, COCKFIELD, THORPE MORIEUX AND FELSHAM
Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the following roads at the following phases:
1. C698 Chapel Road, Cockfield from Great Green to The Bungalow
2. C697 Great Green, Cockfield from Chapel Road to Bradfield Road
3. C697 Bradfield Road, Cockfield from number 2 to Great Green C697 Great Green, Cockfield from Bradfield Road to Felsham Road
4. C697 Great Green, Cockfield from Moat Lodge to Chapel Road
5. C698 Felsham Road, Cockfield from Great Green to Felsham Road, Thorpe Morieux C698 Felsham Road, Thorpe Morieux from Felsham Road, Cockfield to Cockfield Road, Felsham
C698 Cockfield Road, Felsham from Felsham Road, Thorpe Morieux to Bay Tree Cottage
This is to facilitate installation of a fibre network. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period. Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion routes will be:

2. Great Green and vice versa

5. Great Green, Bradfield Road, Bury Road, Bradfield St Clare, Low Green, Lower Green, Bury Road, Bradfield St George, Hollybush Corner, Felsham Road, Drinkstone Road, Bury Road, Felsham, Upper Green, Cockfield Road, Felsham and vice versa
It is intended that the closures will operate from:
1. 09/08/2025 – 12/08/2025
2. 13/08/2025 – 14/08/2025
3. 15/08/2025 – 24/08/2025
4. 26/08/2025 – 07/08/2025
5. 08/09/2025 – 24/09/2025
If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF THE A146 NORWICH ROAD, BECCLES
Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the A146 Norwich Road, Beccles to facilitate the repainting of road markings on the roundabout. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be the A146, the A1145, the A12, the A1144, the A47, the A143 and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 09/08/2025 – 11/08/2025 from 10pm - 5am but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (PARISH OF BENACRE) (FOOTPATH 003)
(TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2025
This order, which came into effect on 03/02/2025 closing Footpath 3 from Back Lane for 1000 metres south eastbound has been extended in force by the Minister until 01/04/2029 or until the completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.
This closure remains required due to facilitating allowing safe vehicle movements for Benacre Pump Station Project. Without extension the order would have been in effect until 02/08/2025.
The alternative 1.5 metre wide route will run through the field alongside the existing Benacre Footpath 3.

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (PARISHES OF HADLEIGH, SEMER AND KERSEY)
(STONE STREET (A1141) UNION HILL (A1141)
(30MPH AND 40MPH SPEED LIMIT AND REVOCATION) ORDER 2025
On 23/07/2025 Suffolk County Council made the above order for the Parishes of Hadleigh, Semer and Kersey under Section 84(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended. The effect of this order is to introduce:
A 30mph speed limit at:
• Stone Street (A1141), Hadleigh: in both directions from its junction with the A1071 (known as the Hadleigh Bypass) in a generally north westerly direction for a total distance of 768m.
A 40mph speed limit at:
• Stone Street (A1141), Hadleigh: in both directions from a point 768m northwest of its junction with the A1071 (known as the Hadleigh bypass), travelling in a north westerly, then northerly direction to its Parish Boundary with Kersey.
• Stone Street (A1141), Kersey: in both directions from its southern Parish boundary with Hadleigh Town Council, travelling in a northerly direction to its Northern Parish Boundary with Semer Parish Council.
• Stone Street (A1141), Semer: in both directions from the northern Parish boundary of Kersey, travelling in a northerly direction to its junction with Overgang Road (U8419)
• Union Hill (A1141), Semer: in both directions from its junction with Overgang Road (U8419), travelling in a north westerly direction to a point 35m southeast of its junction with Bildeston Road (B1115)
This order shall revoke the provisions of the Suffolk County Council A1141 Stone Street, Hadleigh (40mph Speed Limit) order dated 09/10/2007.
A copy of the order which comes into effect on 07/08/2025 and a map showing the roads affected may be seen with other public notice at the addresses below, 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday: also at Hadleigh Library, 29 High Street, Hadleigh IP7 5AG, Tuesday and Wednesday: 9am - 5pm, Thursday: 9am - 6pm, Friday: 9am - 5pm, Saturday: 9.30am - 5pm, Sunday: 10am - 4pm.
