What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (Widley Road) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.131) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 4th August 2025 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
WIDLEY ROAD
From its junction with Tipner Road to its junction with Walden Road.
From its junction with Strode Road to its junction with Gruneisen Road.
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate gas works.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 4th August 2025 to 30th September 2025 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner..
D) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from Tipner Road - Walker Road - Walden Road and Jervis Road, Twyford Avenue - Walker Road - Tipner Road and Gruneisen Road - Twyford Avenue, Stamshaw Road - Walker Road - Walden Road - Widley Road and Jervis Road - Twyford Avenue - Stamshaw Road - Newcomen Road - Wilson Road
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
