What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(REAR 122 TO 146 HIBSON ROAD, REAR 1 TO 69 VERON STREET, REAR 4 TO 22 HILDROP ROAD, REAR 147 TO 173 CHAPEL STREET, REAR 9 TO 89 LARCH STREET, BACK 114-130 CARR ROAD, REAR 7 TO 41 DERBY ROAD, NELSON, PENDLE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of
i. Rear 122 to 146 Hibson Road from its junction with Bradshaw Street to its junction with Extwistle Street.
ii. Rear 1 to 69 Venon Street from its junction with Ashford Street to its junction with Brunswick Street
iii. Rear 4 to 22 Hildrop from its junction with Rear 147 to 173 Chapel Street to the end of the road
iv. Rear 147 to 173 Chapel Street from its junction with Hildrop Road to its junction with Perth Street
v. Rear 9 to 89 Larch Street from its junction with Bracewell Street to its junction with Althol Street
vi. Back 114-130 Carr Road from its junction with West Street to its junction with Milton Street
vii. Rear 7 to 41 Derby Street from its junction with Bankhouse Road to its junction with Regent Street.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0830 hours on Monday 4th August 2025 until 1700 hours on Tuesday 7th October 2025 or until completion of the works within this period. The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016. Works are weather dependent and may be carried out on any of the dates specified.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. A diversion will be signed locally.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow resurfacing of back streets works to be carried out.
