Hertfordshire, Multiple Road Closures Due To Various Works
What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
(Temporary Closing And Temporary Waiting Restrictions In Various Roads In Hatfield) Order No.2 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:
1. The A414 westbound slip road leading onto A1000 Hertford Road, Hatfield from its junction with the westbound slip road leading onto A1000 Hertford Road westwards and south westwards to its junction with A1000 Hertford Road, a distance of approximately 175m.
An alternative route will be via A414 (Hertford Road) Mount Pleasant Lane, the A414 Great North Road/Oldings Corner roundabout, A414 Hertford Road and A1000 Hertford Road.
2. The A414 westbound slip road leading onto A414 Hertford Road, Hatfield from its junction with A1000 Hertford Road north westwards to its junction with A414 Hertford Road, a distance of approximately 370m.
An alternative route will be via A1000 Hertford Road and A414 Hertford Road.
3. The A414 eastbound slip road leading onto A1000 Chequers, Hatfield from its junction with the eastbound carriageway of A414 Hertford Road south eastwards, north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with A1000 Chequers, a distance of approximately 291m.
An alternative route will be via A414 Hertford Road and A1000 Hertford Road.
4. The A414 eastbound slip road leading onto A414 Hertford Road, Hatfield from a point 97m south west of its junction with A1000 Chequers south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with the eastbound carriageway of A414 Hertford Road, a distance of approximately 184m.
An alternative route will be via A414 (Hertford Road)/Mount Pleasant Lane, the A414 Great North Road/Oldings Corner roundabout, A414 Hertford Road and A1000 Hertford Road.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 18th August 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(Temporary Closing Of Various Roads In Digswell, Cheshunt, Newgate Street And Welwyn Garden City) Order 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"), except for access:
1. that length of Harmer Green Lane, Digswell from its southernmost junction with New Road north westwards, north eastwards and south eastwards to its northernmost junction with New Road, a distance of approximately 1389m.
An alternative route will be via New Road.
2. that length of Darnicle Hill, Cheshunt/Newgate Street, Newgate Street from its junction with Newgate Street Road north westwards, south westwards and north westwards to its junction with Newgate Street Village, a distance of approximately 1455m.
An alternative route will be via Hammondstreet Road, Dig Dag Hill, Longfield Lane, B156 (Flamstead End Road/Churchgate Road/Goffs Lane/Cuffley Hill/Station Road), B157 (Plough Hill/East Ridgeway/ The Ridgeway, Carbone Hill and Newgatestreet Village.
3. that length of Springfields, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Stanborough Green north westwards to its junction with Handside Lane, a distance of approximately 465m.
An alternative route will be via Stanborough Green, Lemsford Lane and Handside Lane.
4. that length of Little Youngs, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Handside Lane north westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However the diversion for properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
5. that length of The Commons, Welwyn Garden City from its easternmost junction with The Howlands westwards, southwards, westwards and north westwards to its westernmost junction with The Howlands, a distance of approximately 734m.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 20th August 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(Temporary Closing Of The Footpath Situated Beneath Digswell Road, Welwyn Garden City) Order 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using the footpath situated beneath Digswell Road, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Haymeads north westwards for a distance of approximately 114m ("the Footpath").
An alternative route will be via the footway situated to the north and north west side of Haymeads, the footway situated on the north east side of Harwood Hill, the footway situated on the east and west sides of Digswell Road, the footway situated on the east side of Ingles and the footpth situated beneath Digswell Road.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Footpath.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 18th August 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Footpath.

(Temporary Closing Of Harmer Green Lane, Digswell) Order No.2 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Harmer Green Lane, Digswell from its junction with Harmer Dell south westwards for a distance of approximately 409m ("the Road"), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Harmer Green Lane, New Road, Adele Avenue and Harmer Green Lane.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 1st August 2025 for a period of up to 18 months, however the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
