THE A64 TRUNK ROAD (FULFORD TO GRIMSTON BAR) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A64 Trunk Road, in the County of North Yorkshire, to enable Vehicle Restraint System replacement and associated works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to start at 8pm on Monday 4 August 2025 for 3 months, or until completed.

The effect of the order will be, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to impose a temporary:

(i) 40mph speed restriction on the A64 eastbound and westbound carriageways from 3000 metres west of the exit slip road at Selby Road junction to 1500 metres east of the entry slip road at Grimston Bar junction, a distance of 8300 metres;

(ii) 40mph speed restriction on the A64 eastbound and westbound carriageways from 1400 metres west of the exit slip road at Selby Road junction to 1000 metres east of the entry slip road at Grimston Bar junction, a distance of 1500 metres;

It will be necessary, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to:

(iii) Close the laybys adjacent to the lengths mentioned above in (i), (ii); and

(iv) to ban vehicles with an overall width exceeding 6’6” and 9’6” in specified lanes of the A64 as described in the lengths of carriageway as described in (i), (ii).

Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 3 August 2025 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
