Coulston Road - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic
What is happening?
LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(COULSTON ROAD, GOLOGTHA ROAD, LANCASTER CITY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) (TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF ONE-WAY TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of roads as specified below;
I. Coulston Road, Lancaster from outside property No.35 to outside property No.92.
II. Golgotha Road, Lancaster from its junction with Coulston Road to outside properties no 51&58.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0730 hours on Wednesday 6th August 2025 until 1700 hours on Friday 8th August 2025 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. Vehicular access for residents and emergency vehicles will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closures is via:-
I. Coulston road – Wyresdale Road – Newlands Road – Bowerham Road and vice versa.
II. Coulston Road – Bowerham Road - Golgotha Road and vice versa.
AND FURTHER during the period of the temporary prohibition of through traffic the existing One Way on Golgotha Road for its entire length from west to east will be temporarily suspended.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow alterations to existing kerb line, installation of new road gullies and relocation of existing, to be followed be resurfacing to carriageway to be undertaken by Atkinson Civil Engineering Ltd.
