St Johns Chapel, Temporary Footbridge Closure Due To Bridge Repair Or Renewal Works
What is happening?

(MIDDLE BLACKDENE FOOTBRIDGE (PUBLIC FOOTPATH NO. 21 STANHOPE PARISH, ST JOHNS CHAPEL WARD), ST JOHNS CHAPEL) (TEMPORARY FOOTBRIDGE CLOSURE)
RDER 2025
The Council on 25/7/2025 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following length of footbridge. A 23 metre length of Middle Blackdene Footbridge that carries Public Footpath Number 21 Stanhope Parish, St Johns Chapel Ward, Rookhope to enable bridge repair or renewal works to be undertaken. Alternative routes will be available to pedestrian traffic from the northern side of the closure, from Footpath No 22 Stanhope Parish St Johns Chapel Ward, by using either:
westerly to Coronation Bridge that leads south toward A689, then easterly along A689 to Footpath No 21 or
easterly to Island House then south on Footpath No 20 to A689, then westerly on A689 to Footpath No 23 leading to Footpath No 21 to the southern side of the closure and vice versa.
The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The closure is required from Wednesday 30/7/2025 and for the duration of the works, anticipated to be up to 6 months. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
