Lowestoft - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Gas Main Replacement Works

What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C913 LONG ROAD, U8033 BRITTEN ROAD,

U8034 HOMEFIELD AVENUE AND U8106 WESTWOOD AVENUE, LOWESTOFT

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads in the following phases:

1. • C913 Long Road, Lowestoft from the junction with Britten Road for 120 metres westbound

    • U8033 Britten Road, Lowestoft from the junction with Long Road for 50 metres northbound

2. U8034 Homefield Avenue, Lowestoft from the junction with Long Road for 50 metres westbound

3. U8106 Westwood Avenue, Lowestoft from the junction with Long Road for 50 metres westbound

This is to facilitate a gas main replacement. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period. Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion routes will be:

1. • for Long Road - the A1117, the A12 and vice versa

    • for Britten Road - Pinewood Avenue, Westwood Avenue and vice versa

2. Long Road, Westwood Avenue, Pinewood Avenue and vice versa

3. Long Road, Elm Tree Road, Colville Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closures will operate from:

1. 28/07/2025 - 15/08/2025

2. 11/08/2025 - 22/08/2025

3. 18/08/2025 - 01/09/2025

If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).
