TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025 (NORWICH)
Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984
Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:
i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:
CECIL ROAD – from 47m southeast of its junction with Trafford Road for 30m south-eastwards to facilitate new electrical connection works from 6th to 20th August 2025 (may continue until 1st October 2025). Alternative route is via: Brian Avenue, Trafford Road, Cecil Road and vice versa.
The works promoter is UK Power Networks.
COTMAN ROAD AND THORPE ROAD – 1) Cotman Road from its junction with Thorpe Road for 30m northwards and; 2) Thorpe Road from 15m west of its junction with Cotman Road for 15m eastwards to facilitate electrical apparatus installation works. Road 1) will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) and Road 2) will be temporarily subject to the suspension of the bus lane between 08:00 on 4th August and 18:00 on 8th August 2025 (may continue until 19th September 2025). Alternative route is via: Thorpe Road, Telegraph Lane East and Cotman Road. The works promoter is UK Power Networks.
EBBISHAM DRIVE – from its junction with Greenways to its junction with Cheyham Mount to facilitate subsidence investigation works from 08:00 on 4th August to 18:00 on 7th August 2025 (may continue until 18th September 2025). Alternative route is via: Amderley Drive, Cheyham Mount, Greenways and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
N.B The restriction will take place in 24-hour period between the above dates and times.
ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:
ANGEL ROAD – from its junction with Patterson Road to its junction with Elm Grove Lane to facilitate surface dressing works between 19:00 and 23:59 on 28th July 2025 Phase 1 and between 19:00 and 23:59 on 6th August 2025 Phase 2 (may continue until 19th September 2025). Alternative route is via: Waterloo Road, Magdalen Road, Constitution Hill, Wall Road, Woodcock Road, Catton Grove Road. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council. NB: Please note that the restrictions may be in place on 29th and 30th July 2025 for Phase 1 and 7th and 8th August 2025 for Phase 2 if works are unable to start on their anticipated dates.
CARROW ROAD BRIDGE – from 25m northeast of its junction with King Street for 70m north-eastwards to facilitate bridge repair works between 19:00 and 05:00 from 31st July to 8th August 2025 only while signs indicating the closure are in place (may continue until 19th September 2025).
Alternative route is via: King Street, Bracondale, Queens Road, Chapel Field Road, Grapes Hill, Barn Road, St Crispins Road, Barrack Street, Kett’s Hill, Bishop Bridge Road, Riverside Road, Riverside, Koblenz Avenue, Carrow Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
NB: The closure is expected to take place for one day within the anticipated dates period.
HALL ROAD – from its junction with Cecil Road to its junction with Queens Road to facilitate surface dressing works between 19:00 and 12:00 from 26th July to 8th August 2025 (may continue until 19th September 2025). Alternative route is via: C820 Hall Road, A146 Barrett Road, A1054 Martineau Lane/Bracondale, A147 Queens Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council. NB: These works are to be carried out in phases. Phase 1 is between 19:00 and 23:59 on 6th July. Phase 2 is between 05:00 and 12:00 on 7th August.
IPSWICH ROAD, LIME TREE ROAD, CECIL ROAD – 1) Ipswich Road (northbound) from its junction with Daniels Road to its junction with Town Close Road and; 2) Lime Tree Road from its junction with Ipswich Road for 30m westwards and; 3) Cecil Road from its junction with Ipswich Road for 30m eastwards to facilitate gas main replacement works from 27th July to 1st September 2025 (may continue until 19th September 2025).
Alternative route is via: 1) Southbound: Ipswich Road, Newmarket Road, A11 Newmarket Road; 2) Westbound: Ipswich Road, Daniels Road, Lime Tree Road eastwards. Eastbound: Unthank Road, Colman Road, Daniels Road and vice versa; 3) Cecil Road, Lime Tree Road and vice versa.
The works promoter is Cadent.
JEX ROAD – from its junction with Meat Plant Lane for 30m south eastwards to facilitate gas main upgrade works from 28th July to 8th August 2025 (may continue until 19th September 2025).
Alternative route is via: Jex Avenue, Jex Road, Meat Plant Lane. The works promoter is Cadent.
MILL HILL ROAD – from its junction with Earlham Road to its junction with Park Lane to facilitate highway reconstruction works. The road will be temporarily closed and traffic shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload from 28th July to 10th September 2025 only while signs indicating restrictions are in place (may continue until 19th March 2026).
Alternative route is via: Earlham Road, Park Lane and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
NB: the closure and temporary parking restriction will only be put in place in phases on site.
MOUNT PLEASANT – from 70m north of its junction with Newmarket Road for 40m north-westwards to facilitate dropped kerb works from 28th to 30th July 2025 (may continue until 10th September 2025). Alternative route is via: Mount Pleasant, Newmarket Road, Christchurch Road, Unthank Road. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
MOUSEHOLD LANE – from its junction with Pafford Road to its junction with Corbett Avenue to facilitate utility connections works between 08:00 and 18:00 from 28th July to 10th August 2025 (may continue until 21st September 2025). Alternative route is via: A1042 Mousehold Lane/Hearsebase Lane, B1140 Plumstead Road/Ketts Hill, A147 Barrack Street, A1151 Charlton Road/Bull Close Road/Magdalen Road/Sprowston Road. The works promoter is ADL Traffic and Highways.
PITT STREET – Pitt Street Cycle Lane from its junction with St Crispins Road for 40m northwards to facilitate new gas connection works from 28th July to 1st August 2025 (may continue until 8th September 2025). Alternative route is via: N/A – Cyclists will be asked to dismount. The works promoter is Cadent.
Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the road(s) and footpath(s) listed. In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are provided but the Orders may continue in effect until the date where necessary or required. The Orders will have effect only when the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where stated is known further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).
Any person found to contravene the Orders may be subject to conviction and/or enforcement for contravention.
