Cumberland, Temporary Road Closure due to Utility Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C2040 OULTON, NEAR WIGTON)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of the C2040 Oulton, near Wigton, from its junction with the U2054, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 100m.
A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of the C2040, B5307 Newton Arlosh, B5302, Abbeytown, Waverbridge and A596 Wigton.

The Order will come into operation on 31 July 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 3 days and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
