North Yorkshire, Multiple Temporary Road Closures & Speed Limit Changes

What is happening?

North Yorkshire Council, Temporary Prohibition of Traffic, Various Roads - Scotch Corner, Order 2025, No. 260

We have made this Order to prohibit any vehicle from using both sides of the dual carriageway section of the A6055 which lies between its junction with the roundabout at the Scotch Corner Interchange with the A1(M) / A66 and the roundabout to the south at its junction with the A6108 & The section of Middleton Tyas Lane which lies between its junction with the roundabout at the Scotch Corner Interchange with the A1(M) / A66 and its junction with the vehicular access to the Services for a temporary period (subject to access to premises) between 15/09/25 & 23/10/25 on various nights between 8:00pm & 6:00am, due to Highway Maintenance works at Scotch Corner Interchange & on the A66. However, the max duration of this Order is from 28/07/25 until 30/11/26. The closure period will be indicated by traffic signs & a local alternative route will be signed on site where appropriate. Temporary Prohibition of Traffic, South View, Hunton, Order 2025, No. 262

We have made this Order to prohibit any vehicle from using South View, Hunton for a temporary period (subject to access to premises) between 28/07/25 & 15/08/25, due to Yorkshire Water mains replacement works. However, the max duration of this Order is until 01/10/26. The closure period will be indicated by traffic signs & a local alternative route will be signed on site where appropriate. Temporary Prohibition of Traffic, Stokesley to Tame Bridge, Stokesley, Order 2025, No. 276

We intend to make this Order to prohibit any vehicle from using Stokesley to Tame Bridge, Stokesley for a temporary period (subject to access to premises) between 11/08/25 & 17/08/25, due to bridge closure. The closure will be indicated by traffic signs & a local alternative route will be signed on site where appropriate. 30 Mph & 40 Mph Speed Limits, Various Roads, Borrowby & Knayton, Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that on 18/07/25 The North Yorkshire Council made an Order under Sections 84(1) & (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 & Part IV of Schedule 9 to the 1984 Act, the effect of which is to prohibit any motor vehicle from travelling at a speed in excess of 30 mph on any length of road specified in table 1 below & at a speed in excess of 40 mph on the length of road specified in table 2 below:

Table 1 - 30 Mph Speed Limit

U1832 (Road through Borrowby Village), from its junction with Oaktree Bank for a distance of 25.6 metres measured along the centre line of the U1832 in a north westerly direction.

Oaktree Bank, from a point measured 78.5 metres in a north easterly direction of the junction of the U1832 and Oaktree Bank, to a point measured 75 metres in a north easterly direction from the centre line of the junction of Allerton Wath Road and Oaktree Bank.

Oaktree Bank, from a point measured 75 metres in a north easterly direction from the centre line of the junction of Allerton Wath Road and Oaktree Bank to a point measured 62 metres in a south westerly direction. A copy of the Order, which comes into operation on 28/07/25, may be examined at County Hall, Northallerton & at Northallerton Library, 1 Thirsk Road, Northallerton, DL6 1PT during normal office hours from 25/07/25 until 29/08/25 & also viewed online at www.northyorks.gov.uk/roadworks-map or www.northyorks.gov.uk/traffic-regulation-orders. If you wish to question the validity of the Order or any provisions contained in it on the grounds that it was not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or of any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within 6 weeks of 18/07/25 make application to the High Court for the purpose.
