Cumberland, Temporary Road Closures Due To Highway Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (B5305 LOWMOOR ROAD, WIGTON, B5307 AND B5302 ABBEYTOWN) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

  1. B5305 Lowmoor Road, Wigton from its junction with the B5304 South End, extending in an easterly direction for approx. 390m.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the B5305 Lowmoor Road, A595 and B5304.

    Duration: From 28 July 2025 for approx. 19 days (Ref: TTRO/C/15244)

  2. B5307 Near Abbeytown from a point to the entrance of the property known as Knowhill, extending in an overall north easterly direction for approx. 1.2 km

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the B5307, A689 Moorclose to Newby West, A595 to Thursby Roundabout, A596 to Wigton and B5302.

    Duration: From 4 August 2025 for approx. 19 days (Ref: TTRO/C/15247)

  3. B5302 Abbeytown from its junction with the C2012, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 880m.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the B5302, A596 Wigton to Aspatria and B5301 Aspatria to Silloth.

    Duration: From 31 July 2025 for approx. 2 days (Ref: TTRO/C/15249)

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 28 July 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
