Brighton & Hove, Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Electrical Works

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ORDER – NEW HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICITY CABLES – VARIOUS LOCATIONS ACROSS BRIGHTON & HOVE

  1. NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council have on the 23rd July 2025 made an Order pursuant to powers in Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which has the following effect:

    The following will be carried out in phases, and will only be in force as and when signed:-

    (a) The temporary closure of Vale Road, from outside Tozer Court to the west side of the Church Road/Trafalgar Road roundabout.

    (b) The temporary closure of Vale Road, from outside No. 59 to Denmark Road

    (c) During this phase it will be necessary to suspend the one-way order on Vale Road between Norway Street to Denmark Road

    (d) The temporary closure of Norway Street at its junction with Vale Road

    (e) The temporary closure of Gladstone Road at its junction with the Church Road/Trafalgar Road roundabout

    (f) The temporary closure of Wolseley Road at its junction with Old Shoreham Road

    (g) The temporary southbound closure of Boundary Road, from the central pedestrian island on Portland Road to Vale Road

    (h) The temporary westbound closure of Portland Road, from Leicester Villas to Boundary Road

    (i) The temporary westbound closure of Lansdowne Road, from Palmeira Avenue to Furze Hill

    (j) The temporary closure of Furze Hill at its junction with Lansdowne Road

    (k) The temporary westbound closure of Lansdowne Road, from Lansdowne Place to Holland Road

    (l) The temporary closure of Lansdowne Street at its junction with Lansdowne Road

    (m) During this phase it will be necessary to suspend the one-way order on Lansdowne Street

    (n) The temporary westbound closure of Lansdowne Road, from Brunswick Place to Farm Road

    (o) The temporary westbound closure of Lansdowne Road, from Farm Road to a point approximately 30 metres west from its junction with Lansdowne Place

    (p) The temporary closure of Church Street from the junction with Spring Gardens to the exit of the NCP carpark.

    (q) During this phase it will be necessary to suspend the one-way order on Church Street between the work site and Regent Street.

    (r) The temporary closure of Church Street from the eastern kerb line of the junction with Spring Gardens, to Spring Gardens central line.

    (s) The temporary northbound closure of Spring Gardens, for its entire length.

    (t) During this phase it will be necessary to suspend the one-way order on Church Street between the work site and Regent Street.

    (u) The temporary closure of Church Street from the central line of Spring Gardens to the western kerb line of the Spring Gardens junction.

    (v) The temporary southbound closure of Spring Gardens for its entire length.

    (w) The temporary closure of Portland Street at its junction with Church Street.

    (x) The temporary suspension of the Bus, taxi and cycles restriction on North Street, between it’s junction with Queens Road to it’s junction with Windsor Street.

    (y) During this phase, it will be necessary to suspend the one-way orders to make the following roads two-way to maintain access: Windsor Street and Portland Street.

    (z) The temporary closure of Church Street, from the junction with Spring Gardens to the junction with Queens Road.

    (aa) The temporary closure of Windsor Street at its junction with Church Street.

    (bb) The temporary suspension of the Bus, taxi and cycles restriction on North Street, between it’s junction with Queens Road to it’s junction with Windsor Street.

    (cc) The temporary closure of the eastbound cycle lane on Church Street, wherever the work site is, from the junction of Kings Street to the junction of Queens Road.

    (dd) The temporary closure of eastbound traffic on Church Street, from Dyke Road to St. Nicholas Road

    (ee) The temporary closure of Church Street, from St. Nicholas Road to New Dorset Street

    (ff) The temporary closure of Church Street, from Queens Road to Kew Street

    (gg) To maintain access the one-way order on Kew Street will be suspended

    (hh) The maintain access the One-way order on North Gardens will be reserved

    (ii) The temporary closure of Church Street, from Kew Street to a point approximately 11 meters west from its junction with Mount Zion Place

    (jj) The temporary closure of Montgomery Street, from Shelley Road to Rutland Road

    (kk) The temporary closure of Montgomery Street, from Rutland Road to Westbourne Street

    (ll) The temporary closure of Montgomery Street, from Westbourne Street to St. Patricks Road

    (mm) The temporary closure of Montgomery Street, from St. Patricks Road to Sackville Road

    (nn) The temporary closure of Livingstone Road, from Sackville Road to Goldstone Street

    (oo) The temporary closure of Livingstone Road, from Goldstone Street to Goldstone Villas

    (pp) The temporary southbound closure of Goldstone Villas, from Livingstone Road to Eaton Villas

    (qq) The temporary eastbound closure of Eaton Villas, from Goldstone Villas to Denmark Villas

    (rr) The temporary closure of Eaton Villas at both its eastern and western junctions on either side of Denmark Villas

    (ss) The temporary westbound closure of Eaton Villas from Denmark Villas to Eaton Gardens

    (tt) The temporary closure of Eaton Gardens, from Eaton Villas to Eaton Road

    (uu) The temporary westbound closure of Eaton Road, from Eaton Villas to The Drive

    (vv) The temporary westbound closure of Eaton Road, from Wilbury Grove to The Drive

    (ww) The temporary westbound closure of Eaton Road, from Selborne Road to Salisbury Road

    (xx) The temporary closure of Victoria Road, Brighton at its junction with Montpelier Road/Temple Gardens/Denmark Terrace

    (yy) The temporary closure of Victoria Road, Brighton, from Montpelier Villas to Montpelier Street. During this phase access will be maintained to the Doctors Bays and Parking Bays

    (zz) The temporary westbound closure of Victoria Road, Brighton, from Montpelier Street to Victoria Street

    (aaa) The temporary westbound closure of Victoria Road, Brighton from Victoria Street to Powis Villas/Clifton Place

  2. The Order is necessary to allow contractors working on behalf of UKPN install new High Voltage Electricity cables.

  3. Pedestrian access will be maintained, and a signed diversion route will be in place for vehicular traffic.

  4. This Order comes into force on 28th July 2025 for eighteen months or until such sooner time as the works are completed.
