ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)
THE LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON
(MERTON HIGH STREET, MERTON ROAD AND MORDEN ROAD, SW19)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
The Council of the London Borough of Merton hereby give notice that to facilitate utilities connection and installation works in Merton Road, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic in the said road, Merton High Street and Morden Road.
Whilst the works are in progress, no person would cause or permit any vehicle to:
(a) enter or proceed in:
(i) Merton Road, between its junction with Kingston Road and its junction with Balfour Road; or
(ii) Merton High Street, the bus lane at its junction with Merton Road; or
(iii) Morden Road, the northbound nearside lane, between Milner Road and Kingston Road;
(b) turn left into Merton Road from Kingston Road; or
(c) turn right into Merton Road from Merton High Street; or
(d) wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading a vehicle, in the road or length of road specified in sub-paragraph 2(a) above.
During the works, the prohibition preventing vehicles exceeding 7.5 tonnes in weight from turning left into Kingston Road from Morden Road would be suspended.
The restrictions would apply only during such times and to such extent as would from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any waiting restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
Nothing in the Order would apply: –
(a) to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or
(b) to any vehicle being used in the execution of the said works; or
(c) to any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes subject to site conditions;
(d) so as to prevent vehicular access to premises in or adjacent to the length of road specified in sub-paragraph 2(a)(i) above, insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the said works.
Vehicular traffic affected by the road closure should proceed as follows:–
(a) southbound traffic via Merton Road, The Broadway, Gladstone Road, Sir Cyril Black Way, Wimbledon Bridge, Wimbledon Hill Road, Worple Road, Pepys Road, Raynes Park Bridge, Kingston Road, Merton High Street, Christchurch Road and Merantun Way;
(b) northbound traffic via Kingston Road, Raynes Park Bridge, Coombe Lane, Lambton Road, Worple Road, Wimbledon Hill Road, Wimbledon Bridge and The Broadway.
The Order would come into force on Monday 18 August 2025 with the works anticipated to be completed by Friday 29 August 2025. However, the Order would remain in force for 3 months should further works be required.

The Council of the London Borough of Merton hereby give notice that to facilitate gas mains replacement works in Church Lane, SW19, they have made an Order, the effect of which will be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in Church Lane and Melrose Road.
During the works, no person will:–
(a) cause or permit any vehicle to enter or proceed in:–
(i) Church Lane, from a point 15 metres north of its junction with Melrose Road to a point 18 metres south of the said junction.
(ii) Melrose Road, from its junction with Church Lane, eastward for a distance of 15 metres.
(b) cause or permit any vehicle to wait, including for the purposes of loading or unloading, in the road or length of road specified in sub-paragraph (a) above;

(b) cause or permit any vehicle to wait, including for the purposes of loading or unloading, in the road or length of road specified in sub-paragraph (a) above;
(c) enter or proceed in the footways of the length of road specified in sub-paragraph (a) above. (The footways would be closed on an alternating basis).
The restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as will from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
Vehicular traffic affected by the Church Lane closure should proceed using one or more of the following roads as required:– Dorset Road, Erridge Road, Poplar Road and Sheridan Road.
Pedestrians affected by a footway closure should proceed using the footway opposite.
Access to Church Path will be maintained at all times.
Nothing in the Order will apply to:–
(a) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or
(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or
(c) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, subject to site conditions; or
(d) any person requiring vehicular access to properties adjacent to the prohibited roads or lengths of road insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the said works; or
(e) so as to prevent pedestrian access to properties adjacent to the length of footway specified in sub-paragraph 2(c) above.
Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any waiting prohibition imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
The Order will come into operation on Monday 4 August 2025 and the works are anticipated to be completed by Monday 1 September 2025. However, the Order will remain in force for 3 months should further works be required.

(LONDON ROAD(A24), MORDEN)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
The London Borough of Merton Council, with the agreement of Transport for London, hereby give notice that because of the likelihood of danger to the public, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which, on Friday 8th August 2025 until Sunday 10th August 2025 inclusive, would be to temporarily prohibit any person from causing or permitting any vehicle to:-
(a) enter or proceed in:-
(i) London Road(A24), the north-eastbound nearside lane, from a point 130 metres north of its junction with Central Road north-eastward to its junction with Crown Road;
(ii) the access road to the Morden Leisure Centre and Merton Register Office;
(b) wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading any vehicle, in the length of London Road(A24) specified in sub-paragraph (a) above;
(c) turn right or left from London Road into the access road to the Morden Leisure Centre and Merton Register Office.
The restrictions would apply only during such times and to such extent as would from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
Any vehicle in contravention of any waiting restrictions imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and the Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
Nothing in the Order would apply: -
(a) to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or
(b) to any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, subject to site conditions.
The restrictions in sub-paragraphs 1(a) and (b) would not apply to licensed taxis at the dedicated pick up and drop off zone for taxis generally located opposite Chalgrove Avenue or to local buses using the bus stop in the vicinity of No. 140 London Road.
The restrictions in sub-paragraphs 1(a) and (c) would not apply to event vehicles or vehicles used by Council staff attending the Morden Leisure Centre or the Merton Register Office.
The Order would come into force on Friday 8th August 2025 and remain in force for 3 days only.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)
LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON
(VARIOUS ROADS) (NO. 7)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
The London Borough of Merton Council hereby give notice that to facilitate a programme of carriageway resurfacing and general maintenance works to be undertaken in the roads specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this notice, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which, during the works, would be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic from entering, proceeding or waiting, including in any parking places, in those roads or lengths of road specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this notice.
Any designated parking place situated in any of the roads or lengths of roads specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this notice would be suspended for the duration of the works in those roads or lengths of road.
Alternative routes for diverted traffic would be indicated by advance warning and diversion signs on the roads affected when the works are in progress.
Any vehicle that is in contravention of any waiting restrictions imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
Nothing in the Order would apply to: -
(a) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or
(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or
(c) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, subject to site conditions; or
(d) any person requiring vehicular access to properties adjacent to the prohibited roads or lengths of roads insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the said works.
The Order would come into force on Monday 4th August 2025 and the anticipated works dates are specified in column 2 of the Schedule to this notice. However, the Order would remain in operation for a maximum period of 12 months and its provisions would be re-introduced should further works be required.

PROPOSED CARRIAGEWAY RESURFACING AND GENERAL MAINTENANCE WORKS

Monday 4th August 2025 until Friday 8th August 2025 inclusive, between the hours of 8am and 6pm. CARDINAL AVENUE, MORDEN; between Lower Morden Lane and the common boundary of Nos. 139 and 141 Cardinal Avenue. CRANMER CLOSE, MORDEN, for its entire length.
Monday 11th August 2025 and Tuesday 12th August 2025, between the hours of 8am and 6pm. LONDON ROAD, MITCHAM, between its junction with Gorringe Park Avenue and a point 42 metres south of its junction with Dennis Reeve Close. From Wednesday 13th August 2025 for 3 consecutive nights between the hours of 8pm and 5am the following day. CENTRAL ROAD, MORDEN; between its junction with Farm Road and the Morden Hall Roundabout. From Monday 18th August 2025 for 3 consecutive nights between the hours of 8pm and 5am the following day. LONDON ROAD, MITCHAM, between its junction with Elmwood Road and its southernmost junction with Lower Green West. LOWER GREEN WEST, MITCHAM, for its entire length.
From Tuesday 9th September 2025 for 4 consecutive nights, between the hours of 8pm and 5am the following day.
