Barnet, Proposed Point Of No Entry To Restrict Cut-through Traffic

What is happening?

LONDON BOROUGH OF BARNET

THE BARNET (PRESCRIBED ROUTE) (NO.*) TRAFFIC ORDER 20**

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Barnet propose to make the above-mentioned Orders under Sections 6 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. In order to reduce the level of cut through traffic using Fernside NW11, to avoid using the junction of West Heath Avenue with Finchley Road which would help improve road safety, the general effect of the Prescribed Route Order would be to introduce a point of no entry on Fernside NW11, at its junction with West Heath Avenue, which would prohibit motorists from entering Fernside from West Heath Avenue.

The prohibition referred to above will not apply in relation to anything done:-

(i) with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform.

(ii) in accordance with traffic signs placed pursuant to Section 66 or Section 67 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984;

(iii) by any vehicle being used for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes in an emergency.

A copy of the proposed Order, associated plan of the relevant areas and the Council's Statement of Reasons for proposing to make the Orders can be obtained, inclusive for a period of 28 days from the date on which this notice is published, by emailing highwayscorrespondence@barnet.gov.uk or by writing to the Design Team, Highways Section, 3rd Floor, 2 Bristol Avenue, Colindale, London NW9 4EW.

Any person wishing to object to or comment on the proposed Order should send a written statement explaining their objection/comments, and quoting reference number SCR662 (RSW016) Fernside, to the Design Team, London Borough of Barnet, 2 Bristol Avenue,

Colindale NW9 4EW, via the Barnet TraffWeb website or via email to highwayscorrespondence@barnet.gov.uk within 28 days of the date of this Notice.
