What is happening?

THE BOROUGH OF STOCKTON-ON-TEES MOUNT PLEASANT ROAD, NORTON 

PROHIBITION OF WAITING AND LOADING ORDER 2025 

Notice is hereby given that Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council made the above Order on 25th July 2025 under Sections 1, 2, 4 32, 35 & Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act") and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act.

The Order, which will come into effect on 25th July 2025, will have the effect of prohibiting any vehicle waiting & loading at any time along the lengths of road specified in Schedules 1 and 2 below. The proposed Order will also have the effect of implementing a 24-hour designated loading bay for goods vehicles only on the length of road specified in Schedule 3 below. These proposals are designed to assist traffic flow and ease congestion at the Norton Road/Mount Pleasant Road junction.

The Order, together with a map showing the affected roads, may be examined at the Stockton Customer Service Centre, Central Library, The Square, Stockton-on-Tees during normal office hours and on the Council's website (Traffic Orders). If you wish to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on the grounds that any requirement of the Act or of any Instrument made under them has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within six weeks from the 25th July 2025 apply to the High Court for this purpose.

SCHEDULE 1 - No Waiting at Any Time Restrictions Mount Pleasant Road, Norton (north side) - From its junction with Norton Road in an easterly direction for a distance of approximately 10 metres. Mount Pleasant Road, Norton (south side) - From its junction with Norton Road in an easterly direction for a distance of approximately 25 metres.

SCHEDULE 2 - No Loading at Any Time Restrictions Mount Pleasant Road, Norton (North Side) - From its junction with Norton Road in an easterly direction for a distance of approximately 10 metres. Mount Pleasant Road, Norton (South Side) - From its junction with Norton Road in an easterly direction for a distance of approximately 25 metres.

SCHEDULE 3 - Designated Bay for 24 hours Goods Vehicle Loading Only Mount Pleasant Road, Norton (north side) - From a point approximately 10 metres east of its junction with Norton Road in a westerly direction for a distance of approximately 15 metres.
