What is happening?

THE BOROUGH OF BLACKPOOL

(BLACKPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB, MATCH DAY CROWD SAFETY

MEASURES) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 25 July 2025 Blackpool Borough Council made the above Order under Section 14(1) b of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 and all other enabling powers to ensure the safety of the general public attending football matches at Bloomfield Road Football Stadium. The effect of the Order will be to:

(a)    Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of Bloomfield Road between its junction with Seasiders Way and its junction with Central Drive.

(b)    Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of Seymour Road between a point on Seymour Road which is approximately 5 metres south from its junction with Bloomfield Road and its junction with Bloomfield Road

(c)     Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of St Heliers Road between a point on St Heliers Road which is approximately 5 metres south from its junction with Bloomfield Road and its junction with Bloomfield Road

(d)    Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of Saville Road between a point on Saville Road which is approximately 5 metres south from its junction with Bloomfield Road and its junction with Bloomfield Road

(e)     Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of Henry Street between its junction with Bloomfield Road and its junction with the median point of 34 Henry Street.

The closures will take place on match days only. The closures will be in place for as long as required to ensure the safety of the general public and match attendees when accessing and egressing the football stadium. It is anticipated that the closures will be for a maximum period of 15 minutes prior to the start of each match and 20 minutes after the end of each match. Diversion routes and information will be on site and will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs. Pedestrian access to premises will be maintained at all times.

The proposed Order will be in place for the 2025/2026 football season and will commence on 31 July 2025 and shall continue in force for a period of 10 months or, if sooner, until the last home game (including any play offs) of the 2025/2026 season.
