West Way, Whickham - Footpath Closure For Northern Gas Networks
What is happening?
THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD
(WEST WAY, WHICKHAM - FOOTPATH CLOSURE) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Borough Council of Gateshead proposes to make an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along the footpath on West Way from outside of Number 249 West Way, extending in a north westerly direction for a distance of 106 meters. The Order is required to facilitate infrastructure repair works being undertaken by Northern Gas Networks. The Order will come into force on 14 August 2025. The maximum duration of the Order will be 6 months; however, the works are expected to be completed by 05 September 2025. During the works all pedestrians (except operatives associated with the works) will be prohibited from proceeding along the above footpath until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the prohibition there will be a signed diversion in place.
