Oxfordshire , Speed Limit Changes & Temporary Road Closures Due To Gas Works

What is happening?

OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(BUSCOT PARISH) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that on 21 July 2025 Oxfordshire County Council made the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The order, which comes into force on 28 July introduced a 20mph speed limit in Buscot, replacing the 60mph National speed limit on the unnamed road leading to Buscot Lock, from its junction with the A417 Lechlade Road for its entire length.

Additionally, new 30mph speed limits are introduced in place of the 60mph National speed limit on the following roads in Buscot Wick:

  1. The unnamed road running through Buscot Wick – from a point 150 metres northwest of its junction with the unnamed access road to Buscot Wick Farm, southeastwards for a distance of 615 metres,

  2. The unnamed access road to Buscot Wick Farm – from its junction with the unnamed road through Buscot Wick, northwards for a distance of 115 metres.

The Oxfordshire County Council (A417 Buscot) (40 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Order 2011 is revoked/replaced.

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Oxford, Headington – Bayswater Road

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 21 July 2025

Coming into force: 28 July 2025

This Order is being introduced because of Gas Mains Replacement works which are anticipated to take one month to complete.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit through traffic proceeding in the length of Bayswater Road between Northway and Edgecombe Road. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Bayswater Road, the B4027 (Islip Road), London Road, (A40) Forest Hill, North Way (A40), Elsfield village and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T15798/AC)
