What is happening?

BURY COUNCIL

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH OF BURY (STOPES ROAD, RADCLIFFE) (P) (PROHIBITION OF WAITING) AND (REVOCATIONS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bury Metropolitan Borough Council has made the above named Order under sections 1, 2, 3 & 4 and Part III of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers.

The effect of the Order will be the introduction of No Waiting at Any Time restrictions and Revocations of the existing orders.

No waiting at any time: Stopes Road (cul-de-sac)

Both sides, from the projected northerly kerb lines of A6053 Stopes Road for a distance of 15 metres in a northerly direction.

Easterly side, from a point 40 metres north of the projected northerly kerb line of A6053 Stopes Road, in a northerly direction, to a point one metre east of the projected westerly building line of 154 Stopes Road.

Westerly side, from a point 42 metres north of the projected northerly kerb line of A6053 Stopes Road, in a northeasterly direction, to a point 2 metres east of the projected westerly building line of 154 Stopes Road.

Both sides, from the end of the cul-de-sac for a distance of 13 metres in a westerly direction.

End of cul-de-sac, from the furthest easterly point on the north side, in a southerly direction, to the furthest easterly point on the south side of the cul-de-sac, a distance of approximately 9 metres.

A6053 Stopes Road

North side, from the projected easterly kerb line of Stopes Road (cul-de-sac) for a distance of 18.5 metres in an easterly direction.

Revocation of waiting restrictions: Stopes Road (cul-de-sac and at the junction of the cul-de-sac and A6053)

All lengths of road which have been detailed in previous Traffic Regulation Orders.

A copy of the Order (including the exemptions contained in it) which comes into operation on 24 July 2025 and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order may be inspected at the Town Hall Reception, Knowsley Street, Bury BL9 0SW.

If you wish to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may within 6 weeks of 24 July 2025 apply to the High Court for that purpose.
