What is happening?
Dorset Council
Temporary Closure of Various Public Footpaths, Symondsbury and Public Footpath 9, Allington
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic [Temporary Restrictions] Act 1991. All pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding along the entire lengths of Public Footpaths 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 95, Symondsbury and Public Footpath 9, Allington. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.
It will come into operation on 31 July 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months and it may be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.
This closure is required to allow for the Vearse Farm housing development to take place.
