Norwell Lane - Temporary Prohibition of Driving For Track Inspection And Associated Works

What is happening?

THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(NORWELL LANE, CROMWELL)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2025 (N25-231)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Nottinghamshire County Council has made an Order, under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, in respect of roads at Cromwell in the District of Newark and Sherwood

The effects of the Order will be:

1. Vehicles are prohibited from proceeding in the following length of road

a. Norwell Lane, Cromwell - from a point 20 metres in an easterly direction from its easterly level crossing barrier to a point 20 metres in a westerly direction from its westerly level crossing barrier.

2. Vehicles are prohibited from Waiting, Loading and Unloading (both sides) (at all times) in the following length of road

a. Norwell Lane, Cromwell - from a point 20 metres in an easterly direction from its easterly level crossing barrier to a point 20 metres in a westerly direction from its westerly level crossing barrier.

3. All existing permanent restrictions will be temporarily suspended as required.

4. The restrictions specified above shall only be in effect when the signs are in place.

IT IS INTENDED that the prohibitions respecting the above road or roads will apply as follows:

From 22:30 hours until 05:30 hours only
From Saturday 26th July until Sunday 27th July 2025.
From Saturday 2nd August until Sunday 3rd August 2025
From Saturday 9th August until Sunday 10th August 2025
From Saturday 16th August until Tuesday 19th August 2025

AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction the alternative route available will be:

a. Great North Road - Main Street - B1164 - Ossington Road - unnamed road - Main Street and vice versa

The Order will come into force on 26th July 2025 and any prohibition in it shall apply on that day and any subsequent day when necessary to enable works to be carried out. The Order shall continue in force until the works are completed (within a maximum period of 18 months).

The prohibition is required to enable Network Rail to carry out a track inspection and associated works;
