THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (ELTON INTERCHANGE TO LITTLE BURDON ROUNDABOUT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in the District of Stockton on Tees, to enable patching works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to take place on Thursday 21 August 2025 for 2 nights or until completed and will take place between 8pm and 6am.
The effect of the Order will be to, at times during the works to:
(i) close the A66 westbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Elton Interchange to the entry slip road at Long Newton Interchange, a distance of 4550 metres;
(ii) close the A66 westbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Long Newton Interchange to Little Burdon Roundabout, a distance of 5100 metres;
(iii) close the A66 westbound entry slip roads at Elton Interchange;
(iv) ban vehicles from entering or leaving the A66 westbound carriageway at its junction with Darlington Road, Ivanhoe Services, Farm Entrance 806 metres west of Ivanhoe Services, Sadberg, Farm Entrance 328 metres east of Little Burdon Roundabout.
During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.
It will also be necessary to close, for 24 hours a day, for the duration of the works, the laybys adjacent to the A66 westbound carriageway:
(i) approximately 508 metres east of Darlington Road Junction; and
(ii) approximately 295 metres west of the entry slip road at Long Newton Interchange.
Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the prohibition (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works, or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 20 August 2025 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.

THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (NEWSHAM TO SCOTCH CORNER) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A66 Trunk Road, the A1(M) Motorway and the A6055 Trunk Road, in the Districts of Richmondshire and Darlington, to enable carriageway resurfacing and renewal of road markings and road studs works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start at 00:01 on Sunday 27 July 2025 for 15 weeks, or until completed.
The effect of the Order will be, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to:
(i) impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the A66 eastbound and westbound carriageways from Moor Lane Junction to Scotch Corner Roundabout, a distance of 6880 metres; and
(ii) close the laybys adjacent to the A66 eastbound carriageway between Moor Lane Junction and Scotch Corner Roundabout.
It will be necessary, between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works, to:
(i) close the A66 eastbound carriageway from its junction with Browson Bank to its junction with Scotch Corner Roundabout, a distance of 10,400 metres;
(ii) close the A66 westbound carriageway from its junction with Scotch Corner Roundabout to its junction with Sedbury Park Road, a distance of 1440 metres;
(iii) close the A6055 northbound and southbound carriageway from its junction with the A1(M) Scotch Corner Roundabout to its junction with the A6055 roundabout at Middleton Tyas, a distance of 281 metres;
(iv) close the A1(M) Junction 53 Scotch Corner Roundabout;
(v) close the A1(M) northbound exit and southbound exit and entry slip roads at Scotch Corner Roundabout Interchange;
(vi) ban vehicles from entering or leaving and close the gaps in the central reservation of the A66 between Moor Lane Junction and Scotch Corner Roundabout; and
(vii) close the footpaths and bridleways adjacent to the A66 between Moor Lane Junction and Scotch Corner Roundabout.
During the closures, suitable signed alternative routes will be available.
Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works, to anyone engaged in the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). Access will be maintained at all times to premises and properties which are accessible from, and only from, the A66. The Order comes into force on 26 July 2025 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
