Durham, Temporary Road & Footpath Closures Due To Fibre Installation Works
What is happening?
THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF DURHAM
(CAVENDISH COURT, BEECHCROFT AVENUE, ROMAN ROAD AND CHERRY PARK, WINCHESTER DRIVE, MURRAYFIELD DRIVE, DUNELM COURT, ASHBROOKE CLOSE AND LABURNUM PARK BRANDON AND BURNIGILL, MEADOWFIELD) (TEMPORARY ROAD AND FOOTPATH CLOSURE) ORDER 2025
The Council on 21/7/2025 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular and pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road and footpath. Road Closure (closed to vehicular traffic) (10 metre lengths outside of Numbers):
59–60 and 37–39 Burnigill,
19, 63, 65, 68 Cavendish Court,
4, 17–18, 27–28 Winchester Drive,
Side Number 6 Beechcroft Avenue,
27–29 Beechcroft Avenue,
12–14 Murrayfield Drive (off Beechcroft Ave) and
12–13 and 29–30 Dunelm Court (off Beechcroft Ave).
Footpath closures to pedestrian traffic:
a 50 metre length of Burnigill between Numbers 45–50,
an 85 metre length of Burnigill from the south western corner of Number 85 and extending west and north to Number 25,
a 10 metre length to the side of Number 10 Cavendish Court driveway,
a 10 metre length between Numbers 1–3 Beechcroft Avenue,
a 55 metre length between Numbers 1–12 Dunelm Court (off Beechcroft Ave),
a 78 metre length between Numbers 13–29 Dunelm Court,
a 76 metre length between Numbers 30–46 Dunelm Court,
a 70 metre length between 1–17 Roman Road and south to Number 7 Winchester Drive,
a 100 metre length from 7 Winchester Drive to 20 Roman Road and onto to side 114 Cavendish Court,
a 118 metre length between 22–50 Roman Road and extending to 93 Cavendish Court,
a 135 metre length extending west from northern side of 9 Ashbrooke Close,
a 50 metre length from side 64 to 67 (east side) Cherry Park,
a 60 metre length between side 42 to 47 (south side) Cherry Park,
a 98 metre length between side 15 to side 25 Cherry Park,
a 70 metre length between 1–8 Cherry Park (south side) and
a 48 metre length between 1–6 Laburnum Park (south side) to enable new fibre installation works to be undertaken.
Alternative routes, where available, will be signed on site. Access to traffic as required during each phase of the works. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The closures are required from 22/7/2025 and for the duration of the works, anticipated to be completed in 6 months. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
