Roman Avenue - Prohibition All Vehicular Traffic For Works

What is happening?

CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE
(ROMAN AVENUE) TEMPORARY TRAFFICREGULATION ORDER 2025

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 17 July 2025 the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on:

i) Roman Avenue, from its junction with Welbeck Road
for 60 metres in a northerly direction.

ii) Back Welbeck Road North, from its junction with Roman Avenue for 16 metres in a westerly direction.

2. The alternative route for traffic will be signed on site as required.

3. The order is required to allow works to be carried out on or near the highway.

4. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles engaged in the said works and police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles on emergency call.

5. The Order will come into operation on 6 August 2025and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to 7 August 2025 or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is the earlier.
