What is happening?

SECTIONS 90A AND 90C HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 – PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION OF SPEED TABLE AND SPEED CUSHIONS ON QUEEN ALEXANDRA ROAD SUNDERLAND
Notice is hereby given that the Council of the City of Sunderland in exercise of its powers under Section 90A of the Highways Act 1980 and after consultation in accordance with Section 90C of the Highways Act 1980 proposes to construct road humps complying with the Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999 as amended as a traffic calming measure to reduce vehicle speeds on Queen Alexandra Road, Sunderland. Nature of Speed Table A speed table will be installed across the full width of the carriageway on Queen Alexandra Road to raise a section of the carriageway, designed to control vehicle speeds. Dimensions Overall Width: Full width of Carriageway, Length: 16400mm, On/off Gradient: 1:15, Plateau Length: 12000mm, Max Height: 100mm Location: Queen Alexandra Road from the centre of the carriageway, at a point 54.7 metres north-west of the extended party property boundary of 74 & 76 Queen Alexandra Road. Nature Speed Cushions a pair of speed cushions will be centred longitudinally at the given reference point, which is a raised section of the carriageway, designed to control vehicle speeds. Each speed cushion will have the following dimensions: Overall Width:1700mm Length: 2000mm, On/off Gradient:1:8, Plateau Length:800mm, Max Height: 75mm Location (i)Queen Alexandra Road, from the centre of the carriageway, at a point 27.4 metres south-east of the extended party property boundary of 70 & 72 Queen Alexandra Road. (ii)Queen Alexandra Road, from the centre of the carriageway, at a point 3.1 metres north-west of the extended party property boundary of 81 & 83 Queen Alexandra Road. The current speed limit on the above lengths of road is 20mph. Traffic signs will be erected in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016 (as amended). The plan and statement of reasons for the above proposed road humps may be inspected during normal opening hours at City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland SR1 3AA, until the end of the objection period.
