What is happening?

A23 TRUNK ROAD (PYECOMBE LAY-BYS AND BUS STOPS) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A23 Trunk Road in the County of West Sussex, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.

The effect of the Order is to authorise the 24-hour closure of all lay-bys and bus stops within between South Downs Way overbridge and a point approximately 1800 metres south of the centreline of South Downs overbridge.

These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake investigation of flooding issues in the area and all associated works.

It is expected that the work will last for approximately a month starting on or after Monday 28th July 2025.

The Order will come into force on the 26th July 2025 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.

The temporary closures will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
