What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (PARISH OF SUTTON) (FOOTPATH 18A) (TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

This order, which came into effect on 19/02/2025 closing Footpath 18A, Sutton from at the steps has been extended in force by the Minister until 12/11/2025 or until the completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.

This closure remains required due to damaged steps. Without extension the order would have been in effect until 18/08/2025.

The alternative route will be Footpath 18A, Sutton, Footpath 19, Sutton, Sutton, Bridleway 8, Sutton and vice versa.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF THE C600 FARTHING DROVE, BECK ROW, BURNT FEN AND SEDGE FEN

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the following roads in the following phases:

  1. C600 Farthing Drove, Beck Row, Burnt Fen

  2. C600 Farthing Drove, Sedge Fen.

    This is to facilitate surfacing dressing and line works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

    Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

    The diversion route will be Newmans Grove, Highbridge Gravel Drove, Sedge Fen Road, Lakenheath, the B1112, Eriswell Road, Mildenhall Road, Holywell Row, the A1101 and vice versa.

    It is intended that the closure will operate from

  3. 02/08/2025 - 04/08/2025 from 8am - 6pm

  4. 26/08/2025 - 02/09/2025 from 7pm - 5am.

    If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U7415 BULL LANE, U7400 HORSECROFT ROAD AND CHURCH ROAD, C684 THE POUND, BURY ROAD AND LAWSHALL ROAD, U7413 BELLS LANE AND U7418 WHEPSTEAD ROAD, HAWSTEAD

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads in the following phases:

  1. U7415 Bull Lane, Hawstead from the junction with Church Road to Hammonds Farm

  2. U7400 Horsecroft Road, Hawstead from Oakhill to the junction with Church Road and the U7400 Church Road, Hawstead from the junction with Horsecroft Road to the junction with Bury Road

  3. C684 The Pound, Hawstead from Broadwater House to the junction with Bury Road, the C684 Bury Road, Hawstead from the junction with Church Road to the junction with The Green, the C684 Lawshall Road, Hawstead from the junction with The Green to Oakland Lodge and the U7413 Bells Lane, Hawstead from the junction with The Green to Oakview

  4. U7418 Whepstead Road, Hawstead from the junction with The Green to Mill Post Farm.

    This is to facilitate the installation of a fibre network. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

    Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

    The diversion routes will be:

TEMPORARY CLOSURE AND SUSPENSION OF 7.5 TONNE WEIGHT RESTRICTION ON PART OF THE A1141 UNION HILL, WATER STREET AND BRENT ELEIGH ROAD, SEMER AND LAVENHAM

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the A1141 Union Hill, Semer from the junction with Overgang Road for 40 metres northbound to facilitate the installation of a new water connection. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be the A1141, the A1071, the A134, the A1141 and vice versa.

For the duration of this closure there will be a suspension of the 7.5 tonne weight restriction on the A1141 Water Street, Lavenham and the A1141 Brent Eleigh Road, Lavenham from Water Street to no. 1.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 7am on 24/07/2025 - 5am on 25/07/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF

THE B1113 BRAMFORD ROAD AND LORAINE WAY, SPROUGHTON AND BRAMFORD

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads in the following phases:

  1. the B1113 Bramford Road, Sproughton

  2. the B1113 Loraine Way, Bramford from Bramford Road and Bullen Lane

  3. the B1113 Loraine Way, Bramford from Bullen Lane to Pound Lane.

    This is to facilitate surface dressing, lining and associated works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

    Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

    The diversion routes will be:

  4. the B1113, the A14, the A1214, the A1071, the B1113 and vice versa

  5. the B1113, A14, A1214, A1071, B1113 and vice versa.

    It is intended that the closures will operate from:

  6. 24/07/2025 - 29/07/2025 from 7pm - 5am

  7. 28/07/2025 - 31/07/2025 from 7pm - 5am.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U3822 FARNHAM ROAD, BLAXHALL

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the U3822 Farnham Road, Blaxhall from the rail crossing for 25 metres northbound and 25 metres southbound to facilitate the strengthening of the ESK 441 bridge over the river Alde. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Farnham Road, Beversham Road, the A12, the A1094, Church Road, Bridge Road, the B1069, Station Road, Farnham Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from;

  1. 02/08/2025 - 04/08/2025

  2. 09/08/2025 - 11/08/2025

  3. 16/08/2025 - 18/08/2025

  4. 23/08/2025 - 25/08/2025

  5. 30/08/2025 - 01/09/2025

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U3612 BRIDGE ROAD, BROMESWELL

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the U3612 Bridge Road, Bromeswell from the rail crossing for 25 metres westbound and 25 metres eastbound to facilitate the strengthening of the ESK 429 bridge over river deben. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Bridge Road, the A1152, Orford Road, The Street, Yarmouth Road, The Avenue, Barrack Lane, Lower Street and vice versa.

It is intended that the closures will operate from:

  1. 02/08/2025 - 04/08/2025

  2. 09/08/2025 - 11/08/2025

  3. 16/08/2025 - 18/08/2025

  4. 25/10/2025 - 03/11/2025

  5. 15/11/2025 - 17/11/2025

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the following roads in the following phases:

  1. the A140 The Street, Wetheringsett Cum Brockford from Cedars Hill, Wetheringsett Cum Brockford to Norwich Road, Thwaite

    ? the A140 Norwich Road, Thwaite

    ? the A140 Norwich Road, Stoke Ash

  2. the A140, Ipswich Road, Stoke Ash

    ? the A140 Norwich Road, Braiseworth

    ? the A140 Ipswich Road, Thornham Parva

  3. the A140, Norwich Road, Brome and Oakley

    ? the A140 Norwich Road, Stuston

    ? the A140 from A14 to A143, Stuston.

    This is to facilitate surface dressing. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

    The diversion route will be the A140, the A14, the A134, the A143, the A140 and vice versa.

    It is intended that the closures will operate from:

    There will be a further closure scheduled for associated works. If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (BOROUGH OF IPSWICH) (STOPPING, WAITING AND LOADING PROHIBITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS AND ON-STREET PARKING PLACES) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2019 (BOROUGH OF IPSWICH) (NORFOLK ROAD) (U3007) (CAR CLUB PARKING BAYS) (REVOCATION) (EXPERIMENTAL VARIATION NO.2) ORDER 2025

On 16/07/2025 Suffolk County Council made the above order under Sections 9, 10, 32, 35, 45, 47, 49 and 53 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (hereinafter referred to as “the Act of 1984”), as amended, which would substitute revision 2 of Map Tile G124 in place of revision 1 of the same Map Tile in the above named 2019 Order. The order will introduce as an experiment two designated Car Clubs Parking Bays on:

? Norfolk Road (U3007) within the existing residents’ parking area, located in place of Residential Parking Bays on:

? Bays 2 and 3 on the eastern side of Norfolk Road, starting approximately 6 metres south of the junction of Norfolk Road and Suffolk Road.

The existing restrictions regarding parking permits for bays 2 and 3 will be removed and replaced with the new Car Club Parking Bay restrictions.

This order revokes order titled “Suffolk County Council (Borough of Ipswich) (Stopping, Waiting and Loading Prohibitions and Restrictions and On-Street Parking Places) (Consolidation) Order 2019 (Borough of Ipswich) (Norfolk Street) (U3007) (Car Club Parking Bays) (Revocation) (Experimental Variation) Order 2025” dated 21/05/2025” to incorporate provisions allowing the enforcement of the Car Club Parking Bays through the use of permits.

Exemptions to the provisions set out in the order apply to emergency vehicles and medical practitioners; for the purpose of facilitating the movement of traffic and promoting its safety; building operation, demolition or excavation works; the maintenance, improvement or reconstruction of the parking place; the laying, erection, alteration, repair or cleaning of any sewer or of any main pipe or apparatus for the supply of gas, water or electricity, or of any telegraphic line, traffic sign or traffic machine; for convenience of occupiers of premises adjacent to the parking place when furniture is being removed from such premises; or where the street is likely to be thronged or obstructed.

The order will come into effect on 30/07/2025 and will operate as an experiment for a maximum period of 18 months. The County Council will monitor the experiment and will consider in due course whether the provisions of the order should be made permanent. During the 6-month period commencing immediately after orders come into operation, any person may object to the order being continued in force indefinitely.

Objections and other representations must be in writing to Suffolk County Council Legal Services at the address below or at jacob.adams@suffolk.gov.uk by end 30/01/2026 and must state the grounds on which they are made.

A copy of the orders and maps showing the lengths of road affected, together with the Council’s reasons for making the order, may be seen on request at the address below, 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday and also at Ipswich County Library, Northgate Street, Ipswich, IP1 3DE. 9am - 6pm Monday; 9am - 7pm Tuesday; 9am - 6pm Wednesday and Thursday; 9am - 7pm Friday; 8.30am - 5pm Saturday; and 10am - 4pm Sunday.(excluding bank holidays and public holidays).

If anyone wishes to question the validity of the order or of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, or on grounds that any requirements of that Act or of any instrument made under it have not been complied with in relation to the order, they may within six weeks of the date on which the order was made apply to the High Court for this Purpose.

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (BOROUGH OF IPSWICH) (STOPPING, WAITING AND LOADING PROHIBITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS AND ON-STREET PARKING PLACES) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2019 (BOROUGH OF IPSWICH) (ANN STREET) (U4017) (CAR CLUB PARKING BAYS) (RESIDENTS PARKING BAYS) (REVOCATION) (EXPERIMENTAL VARIATION NO.2) ORDER 2025

On 16/07/2025 Suffolk County Council made the above order under Sections 9, 10, 32, 35, 45, 47, 49 and 53 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (hereinafter referred to as “the Act of 1984”), as amended, which would substitute revision 2 of Map Tile G121 in place of revision 1 of the same Map Tiles and revision 1 of Map Tile G112 in place of revision 0 of the same Map Tiles into the above named 2019 Order. The order will introduce as an experiment:

Designated Car Clubs Parking Bays on Ann Street (U4017) North side:

? 1 Car Club Parking Bay 5.5m long starting at a point 28m west from the junction of Ann Street and Orford Street for a distance of 5.5m.

? 1 Car Club Parking Bay 5.5m long starting at a point 36m west from the junction of Ann Street and Orford Street for a distance of 5.5m.

This order will amend the following existing sections of Single Yellow Lines into Residents Parking Bays only Monday to Saturday 8am - 6pm on Ann Street (U4017) North side:

? the Single Yellow Line starting 7m west of the junction of Ann Street and Orford Street, extending for 5.5m, will be removed and replaced with a residents parking bay.

? the Single Yellow Line starting 11.5m east of the junction of Ann Street and Cumberland Street will be amended. A new residents parking bay will be introduced starting at a point 11.5m east from the junction of Ann Street and Cumberland Street for a distance of 5.5m.
