What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

 

ASHFORD AREA

 

THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL
(VARIOUS ROADS, ASHFORD)
(SPEED LIMITS) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2020
(AMENDMENT No.20)
ORDER 2024

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

NOTICE is given that the Kent County Council hereby make an Order under Sections 81, 82, 84 and 124 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which would be to extend the existing 40MPH speed limit Charing, Ashford on the following length of road:-

FAVERSHAM ROAD – From the existing 40 speed limit by Monkery Bottom for a distance of 714 metres in a north easterly direction.

The Order was made on 31 July 2025 and its provisions will come into effect on 1 August 2025.

A full statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, a plan indicating the location and the effect and a copy of any other Orders which will be amended by the made Order may be examined at Kroner House, Eurogate Business Park, Ashford, Kent TN24 8XU by appointment booked through tro@kent.gov.uk or viewed online from 1 August 2025 at www.kent.gov.uk/highwaysconsultations

Anyone may, by application to the High Court within 6 weeks of the date of publication of this Notice, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.

(SPEED LIMITS) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2020 (AMENDMENT No.10) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that the Kent County Council hereby make an Order under Sections 81, 82, 84 and 124 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which would be to reduce the existing speed limit to a 20MPH speed limit on the following length of road:-

MOCK LANE – GREAT CHART, CHILMINGTON GREEN - From a point 38 meters west of junction with Chilmington Avenue for a distance of 350 meters in an easterly direction.

The Order was made on 31 July 2025 and its provisions will come into effect on 1 August 2025.

SEVENOAKS AREA

THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL
(VARIOUS ROADS, DISTRICT OF SEVENOAKS) (WAITING RESTRICTIONS AND STREET PARKING PLACES) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2024
(AMENDMENT No.9A) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that the Kent County Council hereby proposes to make an Order under Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 19, 32, 35, 36, 45, 46, 49, 51, 53, 124 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Traffic Management Act 2004, and all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act.

The effect of the Order is to change the maximum stay from 2 hours to 4 hours on the parking bays on following length of roads in Westerham, Sevenoaks:-

THE GREEN – (1) On the south side from a point 12 meters north east of its junction with Vicarage Hill for a distance of 18 metres in a north easterly direction. (2) On the south side from a point 31 metres north east of its junction with Vicarage Hill for a distance of 43 metres in a north easterly direction. (3) On the west side from a point 4 metres north of its junction with Vicarage Hill for a distance of 32 metres in a northerly direction.
