TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under
Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is
to temporarily prohibit all vehicle traffic from those sections of highway set
out in the Schedule below. The order is required to facilitate the holding of a
relevant event, namely the Women’s Rugby World Cup (‘The Event’) which is
to take place on 22nd August 2025. The order will enable the participants to
take part in and the public to spectate the Event in a safe manner. The effect
of the Order is to prohibit all vehicular traffic along the lengths of road
specified in the Schedule to the Order. The Order shall come into force at
00:01am on Thursday 21st August 2025 and cease at 23.59pm on 22nd
August 2025. The prohibitions shall apply at such times and to such extent
as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. There
will be exemptions in the Order for police, fire and rescue services and
ambulance vehicles on emergency call, valid permit holders and vehicles
being used in connection with the Event.

Easington Street, Easington Street North, Easington Street North Back,
Wilson Street, Wilson Street North Back, Brooke Street, Brooke Street North
Back, Millennium Way, Stobart Street, Hay Street, Stadium Way, Vaux
Brewery Way, A1018 North Bridge Street Southbound and Bridge Street
Northbound.
