Old Town - Temporary Closure To Gas Mains Replacement Works

What is happening?

Temporary Closure of Old Town

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, propose to make an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along Old Town - from the junction with Mill Lane to the junction with Holyrood Street. A total distance of 195 metres.

This Order will enable Wales & West Utilities to carry out gas mains replacement works.

The Order becomes effective on 7th August 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months. The works are expected to commence on 11th August 2025 and last until 6th October 2025 between the hours of 00:00 - 23:59 for a total of 57 days.
