(TEMPORARY FOOTWAY CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council have made an Order to prohibit the use by pedestrian traffic on the following sections of footways in Berwick in the County of Northumberland.

• U106 New Road – 37 metres south easterly direction  from its point with Breakneck Stairs continuing on for a further 19 metres.

• U109 Lovers Walk – from its point with New Road  continuing on for 7 metres.

The Order is to be effective from the 2nd August 2025 until the 27th October 2025.

It is expected that the footways will only be closed on the following dates and times:

02/08/2025 23:00 until 03/08/2025 09:00

03/08/2025 23:00 until 04/08/2025 05:00

09/08/2025 23:00 until 10/08/2025 09:00

10/08/2025 23:00 until 11/08/2025 05:00

16/08/2025 23:00 until 17/08/2025 09:00

17/08/2025 23:00 until 18/08/2025 05:00

23/08/2025 23:00 until 24/08/2025 09:00

24/08/2025 23:00 until 25/08/2025 05:00

An alternative route will be available for use whilst the TTRO is in force being Carlin Brae Footway, Castlegate, to Castlegate, Marygate, West Street, Love Lane, Lovers Walk and vice versa and should the need arise changes may be made to the alternative routes, where possible these changes will be signposted accordingly.

The closure has been requested by Core Highways to do track renewals on the bridge overhead. In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this Order.

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION
ORDER 2025
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 –
SECTION 16A

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council (“the Council”), in exercise of its powers as the local traffic authority under section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) and all other enabling powers, has made on the 16th July 2025 the Northumberland County Council (Norham Rideout 2025) Temporary Traffic Regulation Order 2025 (“the TTRO”).

The Council has made the TTRO for the purposes of facilitating the holding of Norham Rideout 2025 (“the Event”) by restricting traffic on the B6470 Norham to County Boundary and the B6470 West Street from the County Boundary to it’s junction with Castle Street for 1,145 metres (Road One) the C1 Norham to Velvet Hall from it’s junction with the B6470 to it’s junction with Cross View for 105 metres (Road two) the B3470 West Street and the B6470 Saluation Pub junction to Norham from it’s junction with the C1 heading south east for 475 metres (Road Three) the A698 Cornhill to Wideopen plantation junction from 1,022 metres south west of Tillmouth Village Hall (Road Four) and the A698 Cornhill to Wideopen Plantation junction, A698 Main Street, Cornhill and the A698 County Boundary to Cornhill from it’s junction with the U39 Green Lane to County Boundary for 2,030 metres (Road Five) (“Road One, Road Two, Road Three, Road Four, Road Five shall together be known as the Road”).

The TTRO shall come into force at the following times, subject to the provisions of section 16B of the Act:

•   In respect of  Road One, 17:40 hours on the 4th August 2025 and will remain in force until 18:10 hours on the 4th August 2025;

•   In respect of  Road Two, 18:00 hours on the 4th August 2025 and will remain in force until 19:00 hours on the 4th August 2025;

•   In respect of  Road Three, 18:50 hours on the 4th August 2025 and will remain in force until 19:20 hours on the 4th August 2025;

•   In respect of  Road Four, 20:00 hours on the 4th August 2025 and will remain in force until 20:30 hours on the 4th August 2025;

•   In respect of  Road Five, 20:30 hours on the 4th August 2025 and will remain in force until 21:00 hours on the 4th August 2025.

There will be no alternative route available for the duration of the TTRO as the Road will be re-opened as the Event passes through.

All restrictions on the Road will be sign-posted and staffed and will remain in force only for as long as is necessary.

Nothing in the TTRO shall apply to:

a.   Any activities taking place on the Road related to the organisation and holding of the Event;

b.  Anything done with the permission of, or at the direction of, a police officer or a Duly Authorised Officer of the Council.

c.   Any vehicle being used by, or for the purposes of, the emergency services;

d.  Any vehicle being used by or for the purposes of a statutory undertaker (e.g. the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which requires vehicles to be brought onto the Road); or

e.   Pedestrian access to any premises adjoining the Road.
