Parish of Wirksworth - Public Footpaths Nos. 65, 67,68 & 69 Extinguishment Order

What is happening?

NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF PUBLIC PATH ORDER.
HIGHWAYS ACT 1980, SECTION 118.
THE DERBYSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(PUBLIC FOOTPATHS NOS. 65 (PART), 67, 68 & 69 – PARISH OF WIRKSWORTH) PUBLIC PATH EXTINGUISHMENT ORDER 2024

On 3rd July 2025 Derbyshire County Council confirmed the above order. The effect of the order as confirmed is to extinguish the whole width of the following footpaths as shown on the order map:
- That part of Wirksworth Parish Public Footpath No. 65 commencing at Point A (Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (“GR”) SK 2771 5440) to Point B (GR SK 2771 5439), then proceeding to point C (GR SK 2811 5434).
- Wirksworth Parish Public Footpath No. 67 commencing at Point D (GR SK 2776 5492) and proceeding to Point E (GR SK 2791 5486).
- Wirksworth Parish Public Footpath No. 67 commencing at Point F (GR SK 2793 5483) to point G (GR 2793 5481), then to point H (GR 2799 5469), then to point I (GR SK 2803 5465), then to point J (GR SK 2811 5442), then to point K (GR SK 2811 5438), then to point L (GR SK 2812 5436).
- Wirksworth Parish Public Footpath No. 68 commencing at Point M (GR SK 2778 5501) to point N (GR 2786 5498), to point O (GR 2785 5495).
- Wirksworth Parish Public Footpath No. 69 commencing at Point I (GR SK 2803 5465) to point P (GR 2814 5458), then to point Q (GR SK 2817 5450), then to point R (GR SK 2833 5437).

Documents can also be seen free of charge at County Hall, Matlock during normal office hours (where copies may be bought at the price of £1.00) or at Wirksworth Library, Town Hall, Coldwell Street, Wirksworth, DE4 4EU during normal opening hours.
The order came into force on 03rd July 2025 but if any person aggrieved by the order desires to question its validity or that of any provision contained in it on the ground that it is not within the powers of the above Act, or on the ground that any requirement of that Act or any regulation made under it has not been complied with in relation to the confirmation of the order, he or she may apply to the High Court for any of those purposes under Section 118 of Highways Act 1980 within 6 weeks from the date on which notice is first published.
