Dykehead Road - Temporary Road Closure

What is happening?

NORTH LANARKSHIRE COUNCIL
DYKEHEAD ROAD, AIRDRIE
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER NO.2 2025

On 14 July 2025 the North Lanarkshire Council made the above-named Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and in exercise of all other enabling powers, which makes it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (with the exception of vehicles engaged on junction signalisation and improvement works) on Dykehead Road, Airdrie from the extended western kerb of A73 Stirling Road westwards to the extended eastern kerb of Broompark Crescent by reason of works being executed on or near that location.

Alternative routes: Vehicles on Dykehead Road at the west side of the closure wishing to travel to A73 Stirling Road to the east side of the closure should travel generally westwards on Dykehead Road, southwards on B802 (Glenmavis Road, Commonhead Street, Commonside Street, North Bridge Street), eastwards on A8010 (Chapel Street, Aitken Street, Black Street), northwards on A73 Stirling Road, to the east side of the closure.

Vehicles on A73 Stirling Road at the east side of the closure wishing to travel to Dykehead Road at the west side of the closure should travel generally southwards on A73 Stirling Road, westwards on A8010 (Black Street, Aitken Street, Chapel Street), northwards on B802 (North Bridge Street, Commonside Street, Commonhead Street, Glenmavis Road), eastwards on Dykehead Road, to the west side of the closure.

Pedestrian access will be maintained, where practicable, during the closure.

The Order, will come into operation at 0001 hours on Friday, 1 August 2025 and will remain in operation until 2359 hours on Friday, 19 September 2025.
