What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC (TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ACT 1991
SCHEDULE I - SECTION 14 (1) (A)
TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC
I. The Council of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea hereby give notice that to facilitate carriageway resurfacing and other highway related works they have made an order the effect of which will be to temporarily close to vehicular traffic or impose other restrictions on vehicular traffic in the sections of the streets as listed in paragraph II below except for access purposes where practicable. In addition, the alternative routes are also shown.
II. The works in the following streets will be carried out between the hours of 8.00 am and 6.00 pm on Saturdays or weekdays, 9.00 am and 6.00 pm on Sundays or 8.00 pm and 5am at nights, although the roads may be closed earlier to prevent build-up of vehicular traffic. It will be Metropolitan Police requirement, which will determine whether the closures should occur on weekdays or weekends or at nights. Each scheme will require between two or three days to complete. Directly affected residents will be given advance notice of commencement date of the works and closure as well as the likely duration of works.
Edwardes Square - Northern Arm: Road closure.
Alternative route via: Ken High Street, Warwick gardens, Pembroke Road, Earl’s Court Road, Ken High Street
South Edwardes Square: Road closure
Pembroke Square, Earls’s Court Road, Kensington High Street, Warwick Gardens, Pembroke Gardens, Edwards Square
III. To facilitate the works being carried out the Order will ban waiting at any time in the sections of carriageway specified above whilst the works are being carried out.
IV. The Order will come into effect on 24th July 2025 and under the provisions of the above-mentioned Act will continue in force until such time as the works are completed. It is anticipated the works will be undertaken and completed within eighteen months.
V. Nothing in this Notice shall apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a traffic warden.
VI. Nothing in this Notice shall apply to any vehicle being used in connection with the said works.
