Southend-on-Sea, Temporary Traffic & Parking Restrictions Due To Chalkwell Station Bridge Modernisation

What is happening?

SOUTHEND-ON-SEA CITY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC, PARKING, STOPPING, WAITING, LOADING AND UNLOADING (TT025-26-13) ORDER 2025 (THE RIDGEWAY)

Notice is hereby given that Southend-on-Sea City Council has proposed to make the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The Effect of the order will be to prohibit any vehicle from stopping, waiting, loading, unloading and parking at the locations stated in Table 1 of this Notice.

The closure is scheduled to commence from 28th July 2025 for a duration of 6 days for each phase, or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.

The alternative route will be via Table 1 of this notice.

The Order will come into effect on 28th July 2025 until 17th February 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce whilst work is carried out for the modernisation of the Chalkwell Station bridge.

Access for emergency vehicles, residents and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.

The prohibitions or restrictions will only apply during such time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction/prohibition imposed by this Notice may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice and removed under the provisions of the Traffic Management Act 2004.
