Newlands Road - Temporary Prohibition Of Driving For The Structural Examination Of A Bridge
What is happening?
THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT
(NEWLANDS ROAD, CHEADLE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) NOTICE 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce a Temporary Prohibition of Driving at Newlands Road, Cheadle from the junction of Manchester Road in a north easterly direction for approximately 160m, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road. This Order is necessary to allow for the structural examination of a bridge. It is estimated these works will last 2 days. This Notice does not apply to pedestrians or pedal cycles. This Notice does not prevent local access. No diversion will be provided.
This Order is to come into operation on 19 August 2025 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
