Sunrise Area - Temporary Prohitibion of 20MPH order
What is happening?
SOUTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL (SUNNIRISE AREA, SOUTH SHIELDS 20MPH) ORDER 2025
On 16 July 2025 South Tyneside Council made an Order under Section 84 of and Schedule 9
to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The Order which comes into operation on 28 July 2025 will reduce the speed limit in the Sunnirise Area to 20mph on the entire lengths of:- Brandling Court; Cleadon Hill Drive; Cleadon Hill Rd; Cleadon Towers; Cleaside Ave; Clyvedon Rise; High Trees; Hillcrest; Hillside; Meadow Laws; Mill Grove; Sunnilaws; Sunnirise; Sunniside Drive and The Lonnen. Full details are contained in the Order, which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road affected and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm at the Town Hall, Westoe Road, South Shields, NE33 2RL. Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any of the requirements of the Act or of any relevant regulations made under the Act have not
been complied with may, within 6 weeks from 16 July 2025 when the Order was made, make
an application for that purpose to the High Court.
