What is happening?

SOUTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL (THE RIVERSIDE AREA, HEBBURN 20MPH) ORDER 2025

On 16 July 2025 South Tyneside Council made an Order under Section 84 of and Schedule 9
to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The Order which comes into operation on 28 July 2025 will reduce the speed limit in The Riverside area to 20mph on the entire lengths of :- Agincourt, Ann St, Ashwood Croft, Carr St, Cavalier Way,Church St, Edward St, Ellison St, from its junction with Lyon St to its junction with Yorkwood, Glenmoor, Hazelmoor, Innesmoor, Jedmoor, Lamport St, Oakwood, Pinewood, Price St, Springwood, St Andrews St, The Riverside, Rear of Victoria St and Prince Consort Rd and Yorkwood, Hebburn. Full details are contained in the Order, which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road affected and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm at the Town Hall, Westoe Road, South Shields, NE33 2RL. Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any of the requirements of the Act or of any relevant regulations made under the Act have not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from 16 July 2025 when the Order was made, make an application for that purpose to the High Court.
