Canterbury, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices

What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

 

CANTERBURY AREA

 

A28 Rhodaus Town, Canterbury. (TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF BUS, TAXI & CYCLE LANE) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2025

To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to suspend the bus, taxi and cyle lane on part of A28 Rhodaus Town, Canterbury, from 21:00 hours on 1st August 2025, with estimated completion by 07:00 hours on 2nd August 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The lane will be suspended outside Palamon Court, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The suspended bus, taxi and cycle way will be open to all traffic for the duration of the works, to faciliate a lane closure.

 

A28 Staines Hill, Sturry & A28 Island Road, Sturry, Upstreet & Hersden. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow lining works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A28 Staines Hill, Sturry & A28 Island Road, Sturry, Upstreet & Hersden, from 31st July 2025, with estimated completion by 2nd August 2025, between the hours of 21:00 and 06:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with A291 Sturry Hill and Grove Ferry Hill, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A28 Island Road, Canterbury Road, A299 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road, Herne Street, Canterbury Road, Calcott Hill, Herne Bay Road, Sturry Hill, A28 Island Road, Staines Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Anvil Green Road, Waltham. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow pole installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Anvil Green Road, Waltham, from 28th July 2025, with estimated completion by 1st August 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed opposite Temple Cottage, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Kake Street, Richdore Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Cossington Road, Canterbury, CT1 3JX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Cossington Road, Canterbury, from 31st July 2025, with estimated completion by 7th August 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside Cossington House Surgery, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2068 Old Dover Road, Oaten Hill, Cossington Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Coulter Road, Herne Bay, CT6 7QZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Coulter Road, Herne Bay, from 28th July 2025, with estimated completion by 5th August 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Cornwall Road and Blackburn Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Cranleigh Gardens, Whitstable, CT5 1QG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2025

To allow ducting works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Cranleigh Gardens, Whitstable, from 13th August 2025, with estimated completion by 27th August 2025, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 13, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Mill Lane, Herne, CT6 6AW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow defect works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Mill Lane, Herne, from 28th July 2025, with estimated completion by 29th July 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any southbound traffic is via Mill Lane, A299 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road, Herne Street and School Lane.

The alternative route for any northbound traffic is via Mill Lane, Hunters Forstal Road, Margate Road and A299 Thanet Way.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

New Town Street, Chartham Hatch, CT4 7NA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2025

To allow overhead wire transfer works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of New Town Street, Chartham Hatch, from 13th August 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junction with Howfield Lane and the track entrance to Chapter Farmhouse, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via New Town Street, Howfield Lane, Town Lane, Hatch Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Norman Road & Kingsley Road, Whitstable. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2025

To allow footway reconstruction works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Norman Road & Kingsley Road, Whitstable, from 11th August 2025, with estimated completion by 5th October 2025, or until the works have been completed.

Norman Road & Kingsley Road will be closed for their entire lengths, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for Norman Road is via Gosselin Road, Walmer Road, Sydney Road and vice versa.

The alternative route for Kingsley Road is via Kingsley Road, Walmer Road, Sydney Road, Norman Road and vice versa.

 

Reculver Road, Herne Bay, CT6 6JS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Reculver Road, Herne Bay, from 28th July 2025, with estimated completion by 1st August 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between number 12 Wallis Court and number 17 Keat Farm Close, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Sweechbridge Road, Heart In Hand Road, Margate Road, Reculver Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Reculver Road, Herne Bay, CT6 6JS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2025

To allow drainage repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Reculver Road, Herne Bay, from 15th August 2025, for up to one day, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 320, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Reculver Road, Sweechbridge Road, Heart in Hand Road, Margate Road, Margate Road Interchange, Margate Road, Mickleburgh Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

School Lane, Bekesbourne, CT4 5ER (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow defect works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of School Lane, Bekesbourne, from 30th July 2025, with estimated completion by 1st August 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside Parsonage Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via School Lane, Chalkpit Hill, Adisham Road, Adisham Downs Road, Pond Hill, Station Road, B2046 Adisham Road, B2046 High Street, A257 Canterbury Road, A257 Wingham Road, A257 High Street, Bekesbourne Lane, Station Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Seasalter Lane, Seasalter, CT5 4BE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2025

To allow carriageway repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Seasalter Lane, Seasalter, from 11th August 2025, with estimated completion by 12th September 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Faversham Road, Seasalter Road, Monkshill Road, Highstreet Road, Unamed road leading to Plumpudding Lane, Plumpudding Lane, Dargate Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Ten Perch Road, Canterbury. (PROHIBITION OF LEFT TURN) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2025

To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ten Perch Road, Canterbury from turning left onto A28 Thanington Road, from 22:00 hours on 13th August 2025, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 14th August 2025, or until the works have been completed.

Turning left will be prohibited from Ten Perch Road onto A28 Thanington Road, as indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A28 Thanington Road, Ashford Road, Thanington Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

The Street, Barham, CT4 6NY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2025

To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The Street, Barham, from 1st August 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside The Old House, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic westbound is via Church Lane, Gravel Castle Road, Brickfield Road and Valley Road.

The alternative route for any through traffic eastbound is via Valley Road, Brickfield Road, Rabbit Hole and Church Lane.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Vinten Close, Herne, CT6 7TB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2025

To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Vinten Close, Herne, from 14th August 2025, with estimated completion by 22nd August 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between numbers 4 and 14, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
