THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF NORTH TYNESIDE
BOROUGH ROAD, NORTH SHIELDS (TRAFFIC MOVEMENTS) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2025 VARIATION ORDER 2025

North Tyneside Council gives notice that it has made a variation order under Sections 1, 2, 4 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the order, which will come into force on 27 July 2025, will be to vary the North Tyneside (Traffic Movements) (Consolidation) Order 2025, so that:

1. a Prohibition of Goods Vehicles over 7.5 Tonnes be introduced on Borough Road, North Shields, from its junction with A187 Saville Street West to its junction with Clive Street with the following exemptions 17(2) (a), (b), (c), (d), (f), (g) and (i).

The proposals will create a safer environment in the area, thereby increasing safety for all road users and contribute to ensuring that highway conditions are conducive to support greater usage of cycling, walking and wheeling.

Further details of the proposals may be examined in the documents available on the Council’s website www.northtyneside.gov.uk (Statutory Notices). If you wish to question the validity of the Order or any of the provisions contained within them on the grounds that they are not made under the correct sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may within six weeks from 16 July 2025, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
