What is happening?

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic: A) Back Lane, Luckington and Alderton; from its junction with Alderton Road to its junction with The Street to enable Openreach to carry out pole replacement works and other associated works. Alternative route via The Street – Alderton Road and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 15 August 2025 and the closure will be required for 1 day. For further information please contact Openreach on 0800 023 2023. B) Village Street (Part), Alton; from outside its property known as Monks Hollow to outside its property known as Pear Tree Cottage to enable Wessex Water to repair and replace chamber. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 11 August 2025 and the closure will be required for 1 day. C) C20 (Part), Worton; from its property known as No.98 High Street to its property known as No.136 High Street to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out works to the traffic priority system and associated works. Alternative route via C20 (unaffected length) – A361 – A360 – C20 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 11 August 2025 and the works will be required weekdays between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00 until 09 August 2025. Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has Orders to close temporarily to all traffic: D) C52 (Part), Manningford; from its junction with Mill Road for a distance of approximately 265m in a south easterly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out water replacement and associated works. Alternative route via C52 (unaffected length) – A345 – C8 – C52 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 21 July 2025 and the closure will be required until 15 August 2025. For further information please contact Wessex Water on 0345 6004600. E) B4042 (Part), Royal Wootton Bassett; from its roundabout junction with A3102 for a distance of approximately 140m in a north westerly direction to enable Dave Lucey to carry out 278 works, surfacing and island construction. Alternative route via B4042 (unaffected length) – B4696 – B4040 – A4198 – B4534 – B4006 – A3102 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 22 July 2025 and the closure will be required until 12 August 2025. For further information please contact Dave Lucey on 01733 267426. F) Crookwood Lane (Part), Urchfont; from outside its property known as Bridge Farm for a distance of approximately 150m in an easterly direction to enable Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd to carry out bridge inspection. Alternative route via B3098 – A360 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 23 July 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 22:30 and 06:00 for 1 night. G) C261 (Part), Woodborough; from its junction with C38 for a distance of approximately 740m in an easterly direction. H) C38 (Part), Woodborough; from its junction with C261 for a distance of approximately 70m in a northerly direction. I) C38 (Part), Woodborough; from its junction with C261 for a distance of approximately 840m in a southerly direction. J) Smithy Lane, Woodborough; from its junction with C261 for a distance of approximately 65m in a westerly direction. To enable Wessex Water to carry out sewer relining works. Alternative route via C8 via C261 (unaffected length) – C52 – C38 – and vice versa. Alternative route via C38 (unaffected length) – C8 – C261 and vice versa. Alternative route via route G via C261 (unaffected length) – C240 – C51 – C8 – C38 (unaffected length) and vice versa. No alternative route is available for J. This Order will come into operation on 21 July 2025 and the closure will be required until 29 August 2025.

K) UC 898203 (Part), Hullavington; from a point approximately 20m south east of its property known as Townleaze Farm for a distance of approximately 129m in a south easterly direction to enable Openreach to carry out pole installation works and other associated works. Alternative route via UC 898203 (unaffected length) – The Street – Norton Road – Sherston Road – UC 898203 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 21 July 2025 and the closure will be required for 3 days. For further information please contact Openreach on 0800 023 2023. L) C198 (Part), Ham; from outside its property known as Eastcourt House for a distance of approximately 185m in a northerly direction to enable Thames Water to carry out survey and design drainage network. Alternative route via C198 (unaffected length) – Ham Road – C197 – C196 – New Road – Ashley Drove – C198 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 21 July 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:30 and 16:30 for 2 days. M) George Lane (Part), Marlborough; from its junction with A345 to its junction with Ducks Meadow to enable Openreach to carry out blockage clearance work on the highway by accessing structure. Excavation is required. Alternative route via George Lane (unaffected length) – Salisbury Road – London Road – New Road – High Street – Pewsey Road and vice versa. This Order which previously came into operation on 22 May 2025 will now recommence on 26 July 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 2 days. For further information please contact Openreach on 0370 050 0792. Orders A) to L) will have a maximum duration of 18 months, Order M) has a maximum duration of 18 months. The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make an Order to close temporarily to all traffic: A) Byway 14 (Part), North Newnton; from its junction with Rushall Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a south westerly direction to enable divert and relay a surface water pipe and associated works in the carriageway. Alternative route via existing public rights of way and highways. This Order will come into operation on 11 August 2025 and it is anticipated that the closure will be required for 2 days. Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make an Order to close temporarily to all traffic: B) Footpath 1 (Part), Chippenham; from its junction with Bath Road to its junction with Footpath 78, Chippenham to enable to carry out survey and check the siphon. To do so, we will need to excavate and replace the siphon and the sewerage of MH located in Lords Walk. Alternative route via existing public rights of way and highways. This Order will come into operation on 21 July 2025 and it is anticipated the closure will be required until 25 July 2025. Notice is hereby given that on 9 July 2025 Wiltshire Council made the above mentioned Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which is as follows: Order 1 – a) To revoke The County of Wilts (Restricted Roads) (No.14) Order 1966 and The County of Wilts (Knockdown Road, Sherston) (Restricted Road) Order 1971 and The County of Wilts (Built Up Areas) Order 1936 (No.2) by the deletion from the Schedule of the following lengths of roads: i) Malmesbury-Sherston Villier road (B4040) from a point 270 yards west of the Easton Town Cross Roads, where it is intersected by the Easton Town-Westonbirt Road, to a point 10 yards west of Sherston Mill Bridge. A length of 772 yards ii) Unclassified road known as Sandpit Lane north-westwards from its junction with route B.4040 for a distance of 134 yards iii) Unclassified road north-westwards from its junction with route B.4040, to a point 25 yards south of the junction with the unclassified road known as Green Lane. A distance of 281 yards iv) Unclassified road, southwards from its junction with route B.4040, towards Alderton, to the bridge near the Mill at Sherston. A distance of 367 yards; b) To introduce a 20mph speed limit on the following lengths of roads in Sherston: Anthony Close, B4040 Church Street, B4040 High Street, Butlers Close, Cliff Road, Court Street, Green Lane, Grove Road, Manor Close, Noble Street, Northend, Sandpits Lane, Saxon Close, Silver Street, Storms Close, Swan Barton, Tanners Hill, Woods Close and The Tarters. B4040 Easton Town – from sandpit 17 metres north east of its junction with Sandpits Lane to its junction with B4040 Church Street; B4040 Brook Hill from its junction with B4040 High Street to a point 54 metres west of its junction with Sherston Mill Bridge; Butlers Hill – from its junction with Tanners Hill and crossing Butlers Hill for a distance of 12 metres in an easterly direction; Commonwood Lane – from its junction with Thompsons Hill for a distance of 13 metres in a southerly direction; Gastons Lane – from its junction with B4040 Church Street to its junction with Easton Square; Knockdown Road – from its junction with Green Lane to a point 296 metres north west of its junction with Sandpits Lane; Thompsons Hill – from its junction with Tanners Hill and Butlers Hill to a point 40 metres south of its junction with Commonwood Lane. Order 2 – To introduce a 30mph speed limit on B4040 Easton Town, Sherston – from a point 17 metres north east of its junction with Sandpits Lane to a point 134 metres west of Sherston Mill Bridge. Any person aggrieved by the Orders and wishing to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or any regulation made under it may, within six weeks of the date on which the Orders were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court. The Orders will come into operation on 21st July 2025.

THE COUNTY OF WILTSHIRE (MARLBOROUGH) (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING, TAXI RANK CLEARWAYS AND ON STREET PARKING) CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2024 (AMENDMENT NO.1) ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that Wiltshire Council proposes to make the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 to amend the waiting restrictions in the Marlborough Consolidation Order 2024 the effect of which is to revoke Map Schedule No. DH92 dated 19 August 2024 and replace it by the insertion of revised Map Schedule No. DH92 the effect of which will be as follows: a) To remove existing No Waiting Monday to Saturday 8am - 6pm and replace with No Waiting at any time on High Street, Marlborough – north west side – from a point 40 metres north east of a point in line with the south western boundary of property No.130 High Street for a distance of 3 metres in a north easterly direction; b) To remove existing No Waiting Monday to Saturday 8am - 6pm and replace with Disabled Parking Monday to Saturday 9am - 6pm, 1 hour no return within 2 hours on High Street, Marlborough – north west side – from a point 36 metres north east of a point in line with the south western boundary of property No.130 High Street for a distance of 4 metres in a north easterly direction; c) To remove existing No Waiting Monday to Saturday 8am - 6pm and Disabled Parking Monday to Saturday 9am - 6pm, 1 hour no return within 2 hours and replace with Parking Monday to Saturday 8am – 6pm 1 hour no return within 2 hours on High Street, Marlborough – north west side – from a point 30 metres north east of a point in line with the south western boundary of property No.130 High Street for a distance of 6 metres in a north easterly direction and from a point 43 metres north east of a point in line with the south western boundary of property No.130 High Street for a distance of 13 metres in a north easterly direction. Deposits of the Order, plans and Statement of the Council’s Reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected at the offices of Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge during normal office hours.
